Looks this problem is very usual after last update on a lot of so called "old" devices.
I have exactly the same problem on my galaxy note II.
Before the update of DJIGO app all works perfect with my OSMO and my galaxy note II, now after update I have all the screen information and settings but no image , (black screen).
My OSMO is fine, on my p3p samsung galaxy tab2 after DJIGO app update, all works with no problem with my OSMO, but its a little big to hold on my OSMO .
Please DJI fix this for us or just provide a link to download old DjiGO app because that will fix the problem.
We don´t need new phones just to look for a small screen when we film with OSMO and change settings.
All was great before this update for OSMO.
Thanks.

I have a Galaxy S6, my daughter a iPhone 6 or 6s (can't recall) and this is also happening to my recently delivered OSMO.  I updated to the latest firmware and tried different devices including my iPad mini.  I can see the setting or OSD, the camera records voice and audio and responds to all commands but there is no video displayed.  I  tried reformatting the microSD card that came with the unit, removing and reseating it, removing and reinstalling the DJI Go app from the devices and still no luck.  I purchased the OSMO for my daughter but I can't have her go back to college with this because at this time it is not reliable.  DJI any help is appreciated.

For me after update DJIGO app and before update OSMO firmware my phone image (galaxy note II) become complettly black (setting works but no image feed). I test imediatly my samsung galaxy tab2 sm-t815 and works fine. After that I try update OSMO firmware hopping for a fix, but no, firmware did not fix DJIGO app problem.
I read people are having the same problem on p3 after DJIGO update.
For me the problem is in DJIGO app not in OSMO/P3P firmware.

I was at the end of my patients and decided to try the following steps outlined below.

I changed out the microSD card to a Panasonic 16GB Class 10 from the Lexar that came with the unit.
I formatted the Panasonic card and copied the latest 1.6.02 firmware to the root directory of  the microSD
I performed the firmware upgrade again, this time from the microSD card and not from the DJI app.
I removed and reinstalled the DJI GO app on my Galaxy S6 (My daughter did not have to reinstall it on her iPhone)
We have been using the OSMO for 3 hours now turning it on and off, switching batteries and using various devices and the video feed has worked every time.  It works now on my iPad 2, iPad mini, Galaxy S6 and my daughter's iPhone.  I hope anyone else having this loss of video issue might benefit from these procedures that saved me a great deal of frustration.

*Update*  I could not believe the Lexar microSD card could have been the issue.  I decided to reformat that card which came with the unit and copy the firmware into the root directory and replace the Panasonic I inserted into the until.  It works.  I can only say reinstalling the firmware using the microSD and reinstalling the DJI App worked for me.  Also before I used the microSD to upgrade the firmware the DJI App would always give a notification that the firmware required upgrade.  Now I see the correct firmware version in the DJI App.

Hi,
If you've upgraded the firmware to the latest one successfully, you don't have to do it again, otherwise, you may always get a result: abort. Does the DJI GO App show the correct firmware version as v1.6.2.10?
Have you upgraded the DJI GO App's version to the latest version v2.7.1? Can you see the OSD information?
What's the model of your mobile device? Please try to re-install the DJI GO App and see if you can solve your problem.

Thanks for your answer!
So, the problem may be out of your SD card. After recording, copy the files from the SD card to your PC  (You can use a SD card reader to plug in the card to your PC or Micro-USB cable to connect to the Osmo and your PC) and check the recordings.
May I know the model of your SD card? Make sure that your card is compatible with the Osmo.
Before your further test, please format the SD card in DJI GO App (Gear setting->Camera->Genera->Format SD Card). Without pluggin the SD card, can you see the live image in the App?

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying but I no longer have the OSMO with me.  I bought it as a gift for my daughter in college.  Our problem seemed to be somehow related to the way we did the firmware upgrade using the DJI app.  The DJI app kept saying a new firmware was available and we would perform the upgrade again.  I finally decided to upgrade it the way I do my Phantom 3 Pro.  I extracted the firmware, copied the .bin file to the root directory on the microSD card, inserted it into the OSMO, powered it on and upgraded.  After that the video worked every time.  I ended up using the same Lexar that came with the OSMO.  Good luck!  My daughter likes it a lot!

Hi
It's a Lexar 633x (16gb) that came with osmo.

The result: success/abort shows that you've upgrade the firmware correctly.
If you have another compatible SD card, please try it with your iPhone 6 plus. (No more upgrade)

Hi DJI-Adela.
My phone works perfectly with OSMO before this DJIGO app update.
I just install an old DjiGO app 2.6.1 and my phone works again as usual with my OSMO.
I hope developments can fix this in DJigo app, we don´t need big quality video feeds to use OSMO we only need some image to see where the camera is pointed.

Edited:
PS. I cannot activate video cache wile recording, but video feed and camera commands are all working.
I also miss the new camera fuctions on DJIGO app 2.7.1 but better this then nothing for now.

Is there a way to downgrade the firmware of the osmo?

Yes. You can download the OSMO Firmware at http://www.dji.com/product/osmo/info#downloads, extract the bin file to your SD card and downgrade the firmware one version by one version. (The downgrading procedures is similar to the process of upgrading, please refer to the document in our official website: How to Update Firmware ).

Hi, Paulo
Thanks for your reply!
The latest DJI GO App will provide us with more features and better performance by installing into a compatible mobile device.
If you prefer the older version, please be careful with any upgrade in the future, make sure you've read the Release note first and decide if it's necessary for you to upgrade it or not.

My OSMO is useless at the moment.

Thanks for your information!
After double check with our engineers, I have to apologize I delivered you a wrong message.
I'd like to clarify:
We can only downgrade one version one time. So, v1.6.2.10 can only be downgrade to v1.5.1.20, but the v1.5.1.20 is not available in our official website presently, so I'm afraid you can't downgrade to v1.4.1.80 directly from v1.6.2.10. In other words, it's not allowed to downgrade recently.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused and beg your pardon!

Hello!
Can you see the OSD in the DJI GO App?
For the problem of "No video feed", please try below troubleshooting:
1) Re-install the DJI GO App.
2) Check your SD card, format it in the DJI GO App.
3) Try Trigger + Record + Power Switch
If you need any further help, please let me know.

I'm sorry that the firmware can not be downgraded to v1.5.1.20, as you may know, the v1.6.2.10 has fixed some problems based on v1.5.1.20, so v1.6.2.10 is more stable.

BTW, may I know why would you like the firmware v1.5.1.20?

Dear DJI,

Telling us to buy new phones because your DJI Go App is not backwards compatible should not be our problem. What you should be making are backwards compatible apps.

I am unable to fully utilize my Osmo simply because of the lack of a live feed on my Lenovo A536.

I have (reluctantly) upgraded my Osmo's firmware after trying to downgrade from 1.6 to 1,5 then to 1.4 to no avail.

As of this writing I am using 1.6 firmware and trying out Go App 2.6 to hopefully get a live feed. While I may not be able to use newer features, I would gladly trade them for having a live feed while I'm shooting.

Get your act together.

Hello!
Your problem may not be caused by the firmware but the DJI GO App or your mobile device's properties.
When did the problem happen before? Had it worked ever before the issue?
The live image transmission is related to many factors, we need to analyze the cause based on your more details. Initially, please try these troubleshooting:
1) Check the SD card.
2) Check the DJI GO App, make sure the App version is compatible with the firmware version.
3) Check your phone, make sure the processor of your phone is capable enough to handle the DJI GO App and the images.
4) Make sure that the gimbal-camera is connected to the handle firmly.
5) Have you ever mount X3 white camera on the Osmo? If you have, that might make the Osmo can't recognize the X3 black camera, then please try Trigger + Record + Power Switch.
Any other further feedback will be appreciated!

Hello!
In order to support all the features in the DJI GO App, it does have some requirements on the hardware of the mobile device. We would recommend a mobile device with at least 2GB RAM...
We'll try to cover all kinds of popular mobile devices in the market, but as you know, it's almost impossible for us to test all the devices in the world.
We'll be appreciated with any of your feedback if it's not in our recommended list.
Thanks for your understanding!

If you need any further help with your problem, please feel free to let me know.
