I had the same issue - just been out to fly and it warned me to upgrade, I upgraded my RC and then connected my P4 and upgraded, when I took it back out, no image and could not take off.

However, I noticed it was still telling me to upgrade the RC, so I selected upgrade again, this time it was instant (suspect it just needed a refresh). Rebooted the RC and the P4 and all good.

I'm on iOS - the issue for me was that even though I upgraded the RC, for some reason it didn't pick it up first time, going though the RC upgrade process a second time fixed it for me.

Sorry guys, I'm kind of new to this...

I have an iPad and it still says Go App v2.7.1, so I assume I'm only able to update the firmware to "All-in-One firmware version updated to: v1.1.301"

Regards,
Doug

Paladin, you indicate above that the 1.8.80 update is an "all-in-one" firmware update.  Does that mean that it also contains existing battery updates, and therefore also updates any batteries that may have been purchased in the last day or so (which may contain the old v1.4 firmware)?

What is the best practice when updating the GoApp?  Is it best to first uninstall the existing 2.7.1 app, or can the new 2.7.2 app simply be installed "over / on top of" 2.7.1?  When updating the GoApp, does anything need to be synced or backed up first?  I only just received my P3P last week, so I have not flown it yet because I am finishing acquainting myself with it and performing all the necessary firmware updates.  Thus, I am not sure if there really is anything to backup lol

Thanks much-  Russ

If you experience a RC signal lost, delete and reinstall the app and you will be fine.

"... delete and reinstall the app and you will be fine."

When uninstalling the GoApp, is it recommended to manually remove all remnants too... such as any [DJI & GoApp] directories that may have been left behind after the uninstall?  If I do remove those straggler directories, will I need to take any special steps when reinstalling the GoApp again?

Thanks very much,  Russ

Has anyone successfully updated the firmware with DJI Assistant 1.0.2 on a Mac? Every time I try, I get an "upgrade failed" warning. I tried a couple of different micro USB cables but to no avail. (Running OS X 10.11.4 on a MacBook Pro)

Also, for those using the iOS DJI Go app, do you have to constantly hit "continue" to keep the firmware download going? (I have 50 MB/s internet so I don't think it's my internet speed.)

I think I finally got it working through the Go app, but had to just keep pressing continue to keep the download going.

Just curious if others have had similar experiences.

I had issues when trying to use my Mac.  But switched to my Windows machine and the phantom upgraded normally.  But I am still getting a poor signal message on my RC.  I've uninstalled the GO app on my iPhone and re-installed.  BUt I haven't taken it outside just yet.  Will try outside this evening.

FW Update, IOS Process

Turn on Craft and controller and you will be notified of an update is available.

Click on the Firmware Requires Upgrade and it will show you the RC Requires Updating at the top, do nothing at this point

Wait a few more seconds and it will pop up with the craft requires an update as well

Click the craft update and it will tell you to return to the main screen, you will see the following

Click update now and download the update

I found mine keeps pausing on the download, you may need to turn off your craft and controller at this point as Lightbrige may be interfering with your wifi connection preventing the download.

Once downloaded you will need to connect the Tablet to the craft via the USB cable DJI provided, turn on both the craft and controller, after a short time it will allow you to begin the update

Note this update was silent for me with a craft reboot at 96%, the gimbal may twitch as the update proceeds, all normal.

Once complete turn everything off and then turn on just the controller

Now you will get the RC requires update message on its own this time, Click Download Firmware then update.

Once downloaded and updated you should see RC Upgrade Complete, interesting this part of the rc update again was completely silent.

Reboot everything and i got the 'Cannot Take Off' error, it again asked me to update the controller, this time the controller updated again but with the normal update tones we are used to, blue flashing LED as well.

Once complete

Rebooted and everything was up to date and working.

Is the indicator light on the RC Green or RedIf Red try to rebind, the P4 is the same process.

If you have updated the controller before the craft you will need to update the craft via the Assistant 2 it seems.

You can also downgrade the RC to 1.5.8 by going to the main page and holding down the Academy section icon (graduation hat) for about 5 seconds then it will take you to a menu that will let you downgrade the RC to 1.5.8 and then start over and update the aircraft first.

I was thinking the same thing, but if you look, that issue was only reported on this forum less than 2 weeks ago. It takes more time than that to program a fix for a new firmware version. maybe next one!
