It's my understanding that .bin files are no longer needed to upgrade batteries on P3 standards and can be deleted by the delete procedure or card format.  Is this correct?

You have only needed the update file on your sd card to update any new battery.
Once all your batteries have been updated, there's no need to keep the file.

What labroides said is right. Once you have finished upgrading for all of your batteries, you can format the card via DJI GO APP or PC
