Over 4 miles for me. However I only flew it when I installed the fpvlr boosted antenna kit. Never flew stock.

5460 feet. No loss of signal, or even weak signal at that point. I was more concerned with battery power remaining since I had been flying around for a while prior to exploring my range.

What irritates me is not all of us live on top of a mountain or on the beach near the ocean, since DJI decreased the output by 20% on the phantom 4 it no longer has power to get through trees or hilly terrain. My inspire pro goes out around 3000 feet where I live and fly which is good but the p4 starts to get choppy around 1500 feet, it's comparable to my old phantom 2 with wi-fi booster.

I bound my inspire 1 pro controller to my phantom 4 and it dramatically increased the phantom 4's range. Same thing should happen if you bind your p3 controller to your p4.

Thanks for the idea to link another controller. I linked my Phantom 3 controller that has a FPV range extender. Works great. Thanks.

Yes - that's all I use to enhance the range of my otherwise stock P4 setup - a high-quality solid aluminum parabolic reflector set that slips over my RC antenna - cost $30.  I have flown a half-dozen flights to date in excess of 20,000 feet max. distance from RC (at turnaround point).  This, of course, is over relatively uninhabited rural areas with no obstructions of any kind between the P4 (typically at 200-400 feet elevation) and the RC.  I have been using a parabolic reflector with both my P3Pro for over 7 months and now my P4 with great success.  Even at the maximum distance, I typically have 4 bars of RC and HD signal strength.  I turn around when battery level reaches 60%.

I got 5789 feet off my back porch at an elevation of 403 feet. My back yard backs up to about 30 100 foot tall trees. I was impressed I got that far honestly. Going the other direction standing in my front yard, I only got 3600 feet. I have yet to have an area that's wide open to give the 3.1 mile try.

Nice run there Cale262, 6.5 Miles is that both ways or 1 way and does that antenna come with a dedi ...

That was 6.5 miles one way. That was not a boosted antennae, no other power added just an antennae that replaces the two stock antennae...also not my video. I have never actually tried a range test as such, I fly strictly for video purposes but still find myself out in the ~4km ranges while flying mountain peaks etc. I would hike up but it's difficult to get up there in my wheelchair, I get as close as my Jeep will take me and then fly from there

A quick example...password is phantom

Cale,

Great video! So you're saying you did a 13 mile run with your P4? 6.5 miles out and 6,5 miles back? I'd sure like to see some data on that run.

Great video though.

Reply 6.5 miles that's almost 11 Km one way , is this even possible ...  if it is possible then thi ...

I'm from Alberta with a winter home in Arizona, I know all about the Northern terrain...the video above was one of my first video but I doesn't have the best footage, it was shot in February  of this year using my P3P... I have since flown that same mountain and much closer with my P4, actually flying inbetween the larger rocky outcrops with more confidence as the obstacle avoidance certainly works and gives me a nice warning and idea of exactly how close I am at times. I will make some more videos when I get back to Alberta, I have my MacBook Pro with me but a much faster machine at home which makes editing much nickers. I do also fly with goggles, I use the FatShark HD2's with my birds...I also have the skyzone V2's, better picture but they are somewhat cumbersome with the HDMI conversion module.

As I said above, that was not my video...this guy does all sorts of range testing and is considered one of the authorities when it come to testing for distance...I think he flew it all in sport mode so he could get out and back as quickly as possible. You should pose your questions to him either through the YouTube comments or over on phantom pilots.

Cale,

Got it, thanks. To be completely honest, I'm not buying it. I've done a half dozen 6 mile runs with my P3Pro coming back in at the mid to high 20% battery range. 13 miles is a long way, even in sport mode. I'll go over there and check it out.

Again, great video!

You are correct, 13 miles. However, heavily modifies antenna and battery systems. Still very impressive. Thanks for sharing!

I live with a handful of houses surrounded by flat farmland.  I consistently start to lose video signal around 2,000 feet out (plus about 200 feet in the air) and I start getting "weak RC signal" around 2,300-2,400 feet.  No objects other than some still leafless trees that aren't taller than 20-30 feet between me and the bird.
