Sorry that is not correct, advanced software can calculate and insert new frames from the difference between the recorded frames to make slowmo looking more smooth and less jumpy.
Even it never will be the same as if it was recorded, ex. DaVinci Resolve makes a pleasant job this way but it add up on the rendering time.

That is still duplicating frames, and while yes I agree it does do a good job with most slow motion video, if you slow a clip down to like 5 or 10% of its original speed, you will be able to notice. My point was slow motion that truly uses no type of frame duplication is achieved by shooting at a higher frame rate. |
