I'm getting a second P4 but I want to be sure I get a later version that has the gimble guard marks. How do I tell if this is the correct one while in store? Is there marking on the box at all?

I would just insist that they take it out of the box so you can make sure...I'm assuming your buying in a store..If your going online its kind of a crap shoot.

Gimbal marks ? What are those? I've been putting the gimbal retainer on so the shock mount is centered fore/aft. That seems to do the trick..

It doesn't matter. Just buy and enjoy it.
