Have done a search, but not come up with anything on 'white balance.'
Does anybody have a method of setting white balance for video prior to a flight rather than just 'eye-balling' it or taking a guess at the custom white balance setting? I'm using the Inspire 1 and X3.

The basic white balance of a sunny day is 5700, sunrise/sunset is between 2000 and 3000, fully overcast 7000, in door with tungsten bulbs 3200.

There are basic charts out there if you want to look more. Otherwise, it's easy to just remember them and look at the picture while you're still on the ground.

You can set your white balance manually with a grey card.

True! And a grey card could be used on the ground. The bottom line is that you SHOULD set the white balance before you're in the air! Once you've set it, it likely is not going to change drastic amounts while you're up in the air.
