I really want to get some video of our downtown area here in Reno, Nevada.  Im registered with the FAA already.  Is that all I need?  I wouldnt be over any events or anything.

That's all you need as long as its not for profit.

They might - depends on what you do.
Downtown areas aren't ideal for flying and flying in a crowded downtown area might not be a good idea at all.
There's  a lot more to  safe and legal flying than being registered and staying away from airports.
