Hi all
does anybody found a solution to Import the RAW sequence from the X5r into Adobe Premiere?
If I try so, it just Pops up a message that the Format is not supported by premiere...?
Do you found a Workaround?
Cheers Flo

Hi,
i have CC but it doesnt work. I am able to import it in after effects but the problem is, the program wants at first a colourcorrection so i am not able to import it as a LOG sequence. Please give us a solution for the problem!

I think you can use Davini Resolve (free) to import the RAW Files and export them again in a format readable by Premiere.

you should search using the media explorer inside premiere pro. You cant import the files using any other files. What you also can do is use davince resolve but the free version only allows you to export it in FULL HD.

I second the call for greater Windows PC support. I understand the camera is new and am hopeful of future developments. But unless these things are called for, it may never happen. It feels like Windows users are essentially missing out on a large part of the DJI post-flow X5R offering, yet of course paying the same price. I currently use DaVinci Resolve 12 Lite to pre-grade and export to DNxHR 444 (3820x2160).

It would be extremely useful, however, to have the ability to export to AdobeDNG RAW from the Camera Exporter tool. Allowing compatibility with Premiere and SpeedGrade, on the Windows platform. The images from the X5R truly are stunning, and I'd love to have full flexibility and quality when processing.

The free version works up to UHD.
And there is no "lite" version any more.

Actually it is suprising that they don´t care for the Windows users.
I do not use any Apple products and I am not going to use them in the future. (These are overpriced machines and I don´t care for nice design for my work tools) It came as a suprise that whit X5 RAW DJI have not thought about the PC workflow.

At the moment I am going to postpone my purchase of the X5R. Very sad suprise indeed.

I'm also delaying my X5r investment until a better Windows workflow is released. I'm surprised that DJI uses their own proprietary file system for the X5r SSD making an intermediate piece of software an absolute requirement. Why not just record straight CinemaDNG to the SSD and use an existing, universal file system? The workflow with raw is already a time consuming task, so it's hard to imagine why DJI has made it even more complicated. I guess the primary OSX focus is the result of ProRes support that isn't as welcome on Windows. I hope DJI steps it up soon with a quick and easy CinemaDNG solution to pull data in the field from the SSDs quickly and efficiently without the intermediate software being such a limitation.

It works but even on a fast Mac Pro system, the proxy video caches poorly. I would recommend export to Cinema DNG, doing simple grading in Davinci Resolve, exporting to ProRes 422HQ / 444  and then further editing on either Adobe Premiere CC or FCP X.

See Example of mixed X5R, X5 Osmo footage created with the above workflow.

What about the bottle neck of getting the raw data off the SSD that uses DJI's proprietary file system? Don't you still need to do some type of conversion to even get the Cinema DNG sequence?

Try the DaVinci Resolve workflow I suggested, you will be pleasantly surprised at its speed esp if you are working in 4K. Remember to export as individual clips for easier editing

I must be missing something. I have DaVinci Resolve 12.5 and I can't read the files to import them. I know the SSD drive is working because DJI exporter sees them. What an I doing wrong?

You still need to use CineLight to convert to .DNG - there is no workaround that. Resolve / Premiere work directly with the .DNG files. FCPX can't. So what we do if we want to work with FCPX is to do some grading and then convert to ProRes 442 / 442HQ or for some, 444 and then edit from there. Its cumbersome so I usually check to see if the footage is fine on the proxy (h.264) file and if that's good, use that.

If you are going for a naturalistic look, there isn't much motion (this is where bit rate matters) and have a well exposed shot, Raw doesn't add much. Hope this helps
