Will there, in the near future, be an fc 40 app for my Nokia Lumia windows phone. Also will there be a version of the NAZA-M Assistant software for windows 8 rt as I'd like to have the ability to change flight parameters in the field which I could do if I could have the software on my surface tablet.

I wouldn't hold my breath.  I don't know if the windows phones have got enough market share for DJI to develop one.  The windows phone website only has a couple of apps to explain the LED's and the Transmitter.

DJI has released a SDK for IOS and Android and maybe some genius software guys will take up the challenge and reverse engineer, reprogram or apply whatever mystic voodoo they do to  whip up a version for windows.

DJI won't bother as the Windows platform is terrible. Not enough user install as by the nature of DJIs products, they are pretty niche and couple that with a very low user base of Windows phones. Resources are better spent on upgraded/new product development I suspect.
