I've tried a search of the forum to acquire the info. requested with negative results, so I was hoping for some input from you folks on which device may provide good results without breaking the bank, and not becoming overbearing in size for the purpose of monitoring camera functions of the Osmo.  
I've come to find how expensive the list of compatible phones can be, as I'm not particularly wanting to go there, but was looking for a basic monitor that works well with the DJI flight App.  
Any input appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

iPod Touch works well.
You don't need a phone.
$199 for a 16GB iPod touch.
I also use an iPhone 6 plus but its quite big, so sometimes use the iPod Touch and it's fine.

I guess the IPod 6 may be the lesser of the two evils, I may even look for something refurbished for use with the App. Thanks

edit: Picked up a slightly used IPod touch 6th edition from B&H photo $120. No Tax, free shipping. Such a deal, such a deal,  and 30 day return policy,
