Did you press and release, then press again for a few seconds?

Yeah, it takes a double press and three second hold of the power button. Just like the RC.
As One press simply tells us relative battery charge. But by RTFM you would already know this.
So it must be a faulty unit, send it back, or mail it directly to me for further evaluation. ;-)

You guys are right, double press did it.  I'm a dumbass.  it's been awhile since I've flown, thanks for the quick response, now I can go fly.
