Please check the small P4 Plastic Probfastlockthings on your Birds and stay secure the screws are strong mount.
I habe checked this today bevor start an one of this importand things was a bit loosen.
Check this bevor Start of proper mount and in good condition.
Hold the Motor and take the plastic right and left to check is it good mount and screws are fit good.
Or is remount with "Loctite" better is the Question for DJI?!
Lose a Prob in Air is a horror !

This is i think an effekt  when Probs are taking the ground or other .
Change it on contact with any things there are not Air!
I have Spare Part No 51 allways in pocket but only four of six screws have the blue glue that take the screws are secure.Endcontrol is the issue,i think.
Small plastic big effekt.

Loctite is my new Friend.

Thanks for this information.
I just checked my P4 which has less than 4 hours flying time on it.
One of the 4 prop holders was slightly loose, probably less than 0.1mm play, but it had enough to feel a slight click when rotating the prop holder while holding the motor.
I tightened the three screws a little until the play had gone.

Take a fine permanent marker and make a line across the screws and plastic.   We do this on aircraft to have a visual inspection to see if the screws are coming loose.  It's called torque stripes.

A picture of the screw or whatever it is called to be tighten would be helpful.

Do not use Loctite on your Phantom.

There have been many reports of it melting the plastic.

Very nice tip, love this,

Have ordered the loctite threadlocker, will apply that and have the lines made.

You do t put loctite on the plastic, i guess its the loctite threadlocker blue thing to be used on the threads, its quite common in rc toys

Great post, thanks OP! 96 flights with my P4 and it never occurred to me to check those. Upon my inspection I found 3 loose screws and snugged them up but it will be part of my regular routine and I also marked the screws with a sharpy thanks to Nelsongc1 so this will be an easy visual inspection...another thing I do on all my vehicles when wrenching on them but also never occurred to me to mark my birds screws....

Cheers!

I believe that it is a good idea to replace the proper holders and props after 25-30 hours of flight.  They are plastic and probably take a lot of abuse taking them on ond off as well as in flight which can develop micro fractures that can't be seen.  They are 3 bucks per pair from DJI and cheap insurance.   I'm thrilled with my Phantom 4 and tightening and checking all the components is part of the hobby, no bird is maintenance free.

I was actually thinking about every 100 flights which at 20 minutes a flight is about 30hrs which I'm close to now. I bought a bunch when they came out just to have them when the need arose.

I found one loose as well.  A warning to periodically check the tightness of these screws should be in big bold letters in the DJI docs.  If this was the cause of that recent 'lost prop' crash, and the problem is as common as it seems to be, I expect there will be more crashes.

Yes they do come with new screws and I can see that each screw comes with blue loctite on the threads, maybe something they didn't come with one some birds from factory.

Less than one hour flight time with P4 and five screws were lose on three motors.    One screw required 1.25 turns to correctly tighten and no I did not over torque prop mounting plate screws.   Will add check prop mounting plate screws to preflight list.  Thank you!    Why is this required routine maintenance excluded from DJI documentation for safe operation of aircraft?

Would like to add to the screw loose debate that I had 2 screws over 1 turn loose with 3 others starting to loosen with less than 5 hours flight time. Well done OP for bringing attention too it. I appreciate it is a tight line between too much thread lock and too little.  A touch more perhaps DJI as the overall locking system and improved safety of the completely snapping props in impact is excellent. Be a shame to have to change it because of a few screw loose incidents.,

Hi,
What about if the propellers holder is solid and has no freedom when trying to move it left and right when holding the motor, but when attaching the propeller and trying to move it left and right when holding the motor steady,
The propeller itself has some freedom..?
Is it dangerous?
3 of the propellers doesn't have freedom and and one dose.
Did it happen to you too?
