I registered just to post here and add to the fire - I also purchased a Phantom 3 Standard in the last month, upgraded out of the box to the latest firmware and faced constant disconnecting issues between the drone and the phone beyond ~24m (remote still worked to control the drone thankfully). I then followed OP's instructions but wasn't able to downgrade back to 1.4.6, only 1.5.7 (from 1.6.8). I now get a distance of about 40m-50m before it disconnects, which is still surely not right?
I purchased this drone for my holiday in Santorini, so I was extremely angry and disappointed to find these problems, it's completely unacceptable that DJI would release firmware without thoroughly testing it to ensure it works. But then again, it does clearly say "made in China" on it, so I suppose I can't really complain? Tech support was NOT helpful, said they were "aware of the problem" (confirming there is a problem), and then trying to excuse it and find a way to make it seem like it could also be a problem on my end...
Thankfully I got this via Amazon and also via my credit card, so if there isn't a fix by next week, I'll simply send it back and get a refund and leave a terrible review.
For those confused about the steps on OP's post - for the P3 Standard, I didn't have to bring up the downgrade screen, I just pushed the card back in and it downgraded automatically, however you can bring up the downgrade screen on Android by pressing and holding the 3 bars icon for the menu in the top right corner for about 5 seconds.
I did buy into the whole "best drone in the world" nonsense - right now I'm not seeing it, and I can get more range on a Bebop 1. Really upset about all this.
