I own 2P4' and 2 P3's. I use my P3's twice a week but have become to hate the P4's.I did not upgrade to new software because of issues out there and I lose connection to tc 100% of time over 300 meters. On the P3 I get 3000 meters or more at same location.
Gary,
I'm sorry you are experiencing this, can you please post a video showing that you can only get 300m?
Also, what flight environment are you flying in?
Watch this video on antenna orientation and it may help.
I have just changed my p3 pro for a p4. So disappointing with p4. The range is absolutely crap, the position of the Ariels on the transmitter is so critical to maintain signal and even stay connected to the drone. Really wish I had never bought it.
Every new device will take some time to get used to it. I have both P3A and P4 and me too, I needed some time to learn the details of and intricacies of the P4. But after this learning curve I prefer my P4 above my P3A.
Don't expect the P4 to be just like the P3, it's an otherdeviec with an other learning curve. Give it some time. Saying that you are disappointed after a few days is not the way to go.
I'm sure when the next firmware is released more issues will be fixed and it will become a great platform in the next 6 months should be even better (I hope)
People that are first to buy NEW Technology are Beta Testers. Always. Even with automobiles. It WILL get better with time. The P1, P2 and P3's ALL went through this "development" period.
Those who are JUST NOW buying a P3 for the first time are experiencing FAR less initial problems than those who bought them within the first few months of initial release.I bought my first P3A at the end of last year. Nearly trouble free.
If you absolutely MUST avoid these headaches, you have to be willing to wait a while.
When you're dealing with something as complex as a semi-autonomous aircraft, the technology is very high and it is virtually impossible to iron out all bugs related to all situations at the factory.
Think of releases of new drones (of ANY brand) as more of a release of a new version of Microsoft Windows. {:4_110:}

Agree - P4 has less range, poor fpv video quality (artifacts), tilted horizon.
Those "artifacts" with your "poor fpv quality" is your device your using, not the drones fault. It gets 720p HD FPV, and mine is crystal clear. You need a new device if your experiencing these issues to the point where you hate your drone. Its not the drone, its you and your subpar device buddy.
Please post a video of what you are seeing, the P4 has the same range as a P3, if you have poor FPV video, then are you using one of the recommended DJI devices? have you done a IMU & gimbal calibration on flat surfaces? Have you used the gimbal rol adjustment?
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" (SM-T815) with Samsung Exynos 7 Octa cores processor (4 Cortex-A57 at 1.9Ghz, 4 Cortex-A53 at 1.3Ghz), GPU ARM Mali-T760 MP, 3Gb RAM memory.
Do you think it is a slow device?
