I flew my Inspire 1 close to the water in order to get some dynamic shoots for boat chasing.
It seems that the barometer is not as accurate as expected and the craft just can't go straight level even with no increase/decrease in throttle.
I guess the problem may be due to the vision positioning system as I forgot to turn it off.
Luckily enough I pulled up in the final moment.

WOW, very lucky indeed. Anytime flying low over water and especially at high speed, disable VPS.

To me it looks like you got to around 6-8 feet above the water. Not that scary. Things look closer than they actually are sometimes. I was above some trees yesterday and through the camera they looked very close. But through line of sight I saw that I was about 35-40 feet above them. They appeared to be about 6 feet away. (x5 with 15mm stock lens) One reason I never fly out of LOS.

Glad you got lucky, and we were spared another mysterious crash story.
Another reason never to fly BLOS. Barometer-based altitude is unreliable, there's a reason why the control tower is always giving manned aircraft pilots the current barometric setting. Pressure changes make the altimeter in the aircraft unreliable over time.

Glad you made it okay.

I would do like Ken suggested turn off the VPS while you are flying over water.

Whoooah!   I was watching and thinking "that doesn't look so close" and then got the 33 seconds!   Crazy but really cool to watch!

Glad you made it out safe and dry.

You really lucked out with that one. Always make sure the VPS is off when flying under reflective surfaces.

No kidding. I was about to close the video out thinking it wasn't really that bad, and then the horizon just kept creeping higher on the screen!
