In previous versions of the DJI GO-app I could see the  geofences around airports (circles).
I can't see them anymore (2.8.0), did I missed something or are they just invisible there?

This whole geofence thing is going to ruin this hobby. My house is in the country and in 10 years living here I've never seen a plane fly over in less it was at 35000 feet but my house is surrounded by small airports I didn't even know existed. I won't be able to fly anywhere unless I drive 50 miles.

You can use the Geo Beta app and install the GEO firmware on your aircraft and you will have access to most any airport by authorizing the NFZ.

Ken,

I think the original post was asking where the restricted circles highlighting the no fly zones have gone.

I presume the link will give for example commercial Pilots the option to remove such no fly zones from their aircraft.

Try zooming out.

same in my area I live in the mountains middle of no where,  in the geo fencing app. practically 1/3 of the state was fenced.  going to a dji sight to get permission to fly is absolutely insane If they ever get crazy with this again I am out.  Been in the hobby for 60 years.

Strange, mine won't work unless I zoom out and even then it's only a partial circle, sometimes??

The NFZ's are still there, you have to have your aircraft powered up and be close to one. As you get closer to a NFZ, you will see two circles.
Here's a few screenshots, in the first I am about 15 miles straight line from the airport and you don't see the NFZ. As I get closer you then see it, and even closer you see the outer zone.
Remember, the aircraft has to be powered up to see the NFZ's in the app.

So your saying that I have to accually get in my car and drive to a location, get out, fire everything up just to see if I can fly there or not?? If so it makes it tough to just tell someone that lives near an airport that I can shoot there wedding or whatever.

The link I posted has the map of the NFZ's so you can easily see if you can work at a certain location or not. And if it is a NFZ, you can install the GEO app and firmware from here and you will be free to fly at NFZ airports.  http://www.dji.com/flysafe/geo-system

That's how the app has always been, you cannot see NFZ's if you are not very close to them.

At least with my old version of the FW, I do not have to worry about those NFZ except for the major airport.

If you want to fly somewhere, but don't know if you are allowed, try the Hover App.http://www.hoverapp.io/

it quickly determines if your present location is a valid fly zone with the weather and wind a part of the consideration, it Also has a map, so you can simply zoom out and in to the location you are thinking about

I know this is off topic but I can not find anyone to tell me how to unlock NFZ while in a GPS signal.
My BETA iOS just takes me back to advance unlock, not really helpful.
