There a video floating around were the guy says that the new z-axis works with both the x-3 and x5 cameras on the osmo and while the x-3 does work fine the x-5 does not, it's too heavy.

As far as I concerned, the released Z-Axis only works with X3 camera.

That's exactly what I was confirming, it does NOT work with x-5 camera.
