Does anyone know if you can operate the phantom 3 without the camera or gimbral? I cant get mine to pair with the remote or app without the camera/gimbral plugged in!

I operated both my Standard and my Advanced with camera and gimbal disconnected.

Hello Matt, theoretically you can operate the drone without the gimbal and camera.

Do you have to disconnect the camera at the board as opposed to just unplugging it at the camera end?

That does not matter,  as it is not a loopback cable.
