I had to manually position the images with no detail so that the horizons overlapped. That may sound easy but each image has yaw, pitch, roll and size in a 3D space and then the actual 2D position it slides into within the panorama itself.
It also presented a problem where that the gap in the stitching led to a sufficient void that the horizon did not line with up across the void (compound errors threw it out). It's a bit like wallpapering an entire room with repeating pattern paper and getting to the very last strip to find that it won't line up with the first hung strip!
Once positioned, they were then "hard linked" to tiles that had detail to allow the entire panorama to be moved around and adjusted without leaving orphaned tiles behind.
Hopefully I won't need to do that very often but I fear another other pano shot on that day will be in the same boat! |
