I was looking at some interior footage I shot today and while it was obvious I needed something wider while shooting, the rooms all look sadly cramped and small in the final result. Does anyone have a recomendation for something wider that isn't a full blown fish-eye with horendous distortion? I haven't been able to find any examples of the lenses I've seen that might fit the bill.

TIA

After further searching, I have to revise my question. Are there ANY lenses wider than the 12mm that would not have extreme weight issues?

From my understanding, only thing wider then the 12mm is the Olympus 9-18mm, but it requires counter weight on the back of the camera to balance, but then is too heavy for the gimbal to operate properly (the lens also has to extend when in use). while I have not seen anyone report testing, there is the Rokinon 7.5mm *Fisheye* lens that may work: https://www.amazon.com/Rokinon-F ... keywords=7.5mm+lens

One issue is, if it requires added weight to balance, there is no threads on the lens.. so can not add any rings / filters.
Over all, looks like 12mm is it. Really sux. I use the Osmo + X3 for realestate work, would be great to use the X5R, but 24mm is not wide enough. And dont forget, 12mm lens at 4k is somewhere around 28ish after the sensor and 4k crop.

gybo102... Thanks for the info. The Rokinon is most likely the option we will take but yeah, I afraid of the weight. I never really thought of it but how much wider is the X3? Maybe that is the best option for the moment. On the other side of the scale, I'm looking at the Olympus 17mm as this is the only workable Prime lens and the weight is perfect.

The x3 is 20mm, after 4k crop is like 24mm. For me, its the only option right now.. I wish I could use the X5R, but I will not use a fish eye lens for real estate work. What type of work will you use the 17mm for? I love the 12mm, gives a nice "normal" perspective when in 4k. Just not wide enough for real estate work.

We work mainly with industrial and commercial real estate. Mostly I'll be using the I1P as an up sell to our current aerials but we picked up the Osmo to expand the options on the ground work. I hate fisheye's but you can pull out most of the distortion if it's on a GoPro level.

The X3, from what I gather, is 20mm in the same manner that the Zuiko 12mm is 24mm, meaning it's relative length in what old folks like myself are used to. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

You are correct at 20 +24mm.. only if you record video at 1080p, once you switch to 4k it crops in some more, about 4mm or so. This means the X3 becomes roughly 24mm and the 12mm Olympus becomes 28 ish mm.

Unfortunately between amazing Oly 12mm and Panasonic Lumix G 8mm Fisheye lens (for X5/X5R camera) there's an empty gap on shelves. If you can successfully employ cropping/distortion correcting postproduction, than Lumix is definitely the way to go: nicely designed and build, insanely sharp, fairly light. However, at this moment this glass is not recognized by X5 camera, therefore you're stuck with manual focusing.
