What do you think about the new UAS laws?

It is important to note that the new (21 June 16) US regulations on drones apply only to commercial use.

The "current" rules will continue in effect for hobbyists.

     As of August, you will not be required to have a pilot's license to operate a small or micro drone!  Good news!  The whole 624 page "Final" document can be found here;

If you download it, you can search it way more easily than while it is on line.  Use the "Control F" function and enter your search word or words (it accepts at least 2) in the box that opens up on the upper right.  (You can also customize the screen for easy viewing if you take some time to do it.)

     It announces that the Phantom class drone (micro UAS) will need an exemption to fly commercially and the FAA is starting a NPRM like the 107 process for the micro UAS.  There is a lot of interesting information in the new rules, including that the rules go in effect in August.
