So I'm an American living in France for almost a year.  My wife is French and we moved here to be closer to her family.  I needed something to keep myself busy so I got the Phantom 4K and I love it!  This is just one of the videos I have made so far and one of my favorites.  I hope you enjoy it.  I have never lived in a small town much less a "village" before...it's really nice here.

Thanks for the comment!  When i shoot (usually) i put the camera on the vivid setting.  I feel like that gives me more color information to work with in post.  As far as the color correcting i just manually tweak it in my editing software, Final Cut Pro X.  Everything here is just so green, so i tried to highlight that snd the colors from the sun are mostly true out of camera.  Thanks again for your comment!

Cool...have fun with it and just take it slow...you will be amazed at how good just some slow and easy practice moves will look once you download them to your computer...not sure how much flying experience you have, so just take it easy the first flights...these things are pretty smart and really hard to crash, (but not impossible).  Have fun!

Thanks for the advice Todd.  I had my first flight last night.  Took it very gently.  The flying was relatively easy (have had quite a bit of practice with my little Syma quadcopter) - but the technology is going to take a while to explore and to learn.  Also, easy to get distracted by the screen when flying, i found.  The fact that it locks into position when you let the sticks go really makes life easier.  I have not tried videos yet - but took some pics last night, of our recently renovated house in Grandris.  I won't be flying there again - but I did want pics of the house, now that it is renovated (for family in S Africa).  I was careful not to fly over the neighbours - but it is certainly a noisy little machine!  I would have attached pics here - but I only see an option to attach a link (not the actual picture).  Not sure how you do this.

Glad your first experience was a successful one!  The first flight on something that sets us back that much money can be daunting....  I have found when flying that as long as the drone is actually moving, my eyes are usually on the drone in the air not on the screen.  I use the screen of course to frame up the shot, the only time i really go FPV like is if I'm high enough that i KNOW that i will not hit anything and if I'm only going in a straight line, or doing a really wide orbit, just to keep the subject in the middle.  As far as getting used to the technology, just get out in a wide area, i went to the soccer field in our village and tried out the follow me and the point of interest functions, they work REALLY WELL!  I have been obsessed with sunsets recently...ill try to attach a pic here.  looking forward to seeing some of you photos, send me a link on here....a good idea is sign in to SkyPixel and find and follow me on there.  its a DJI site as well....BTW, if you want to add a pic to these replys, click on the advanced link on the reply and it will take you to a bigger reply screen and you can add a picture from there.  TTYL!

Sounds good Todd.  I am in the UK at the moment - and looking forward to getting to grips with the technology.  I have been travelling for the last 10 weeks - S Africa and Australia mainly - but plan to stay home for the rest of summer.  Plant to play with my new toy plenty.  I will try and attach the photos now.

Great looking house...looks like you have a nice view of the valley below.  that church with the high steeple is just begging for an orbit with a phantom.....would make for a beautiful shot.

Ah, I see. I bought a set of Taco-RC ND filters (ND4/8/16/32) not too long ago. Still experimenting with them and I wouldn't consider myself expert enough to advise you on filters. I believe there are many out there, and I only have 1 brand, so I can't compare. I do like the footage 'color' though, especially when using a filter on a very sunny day when flying over water.

Nicely done!... great music to accompany the video and timed nicely
