In the upper right of the screen is "AE" and a lock image.  Tappin git locs or unlocs it.  I am gusssing it relates to the camera since it is on the line with image settings.  But what does it mean?  With it is locked, does that mean Auto Exposure is locked on or does it mean the settings you made are now locked on.  The manual is mute on the subject.

The is "automatic Exposure" lock.  It'll lock your exposure setting at whatever your camera is 'seeing' at the current moment....it is one way to keep your camera 'brightness' and 'darkness' from changing as you video from a very lighted area to a non-so lighted area.   This is one way to get a more even 'brightness' setting in your videos wihtout it constantly (automatically) changing given the current scene.

Might be a stupid question, but locking AE wouldn't be needed if you manually set the ISO/Framerate/etc., right?  Because manual should already be locked I thought.

Exactly!  Manually setting your exposure controls will do the same thing - you just have direct control on each setting.   You got it...you are ready to fly.

When you are locking exposure, you are locking the ISO, Shutter, and Aperature settings of the camera that was automatically set when in AUTO exposure mode.  Whatever the automatic settings are at the time you press the AE lock button, that is what will be stored.

It applies to any DJI aircraft with either an integrated camera or separate DJI cameras for the Inspire, Matrice or OSMO series.

Aperture cannot be changed - fixed aperture camera.

No quite true, the P4 Pro and P4 Advanced have variable aperture.

It is useful to use if you are doing a Panorama series of still images. This will make the exposure the same for all the frames and easier to blend. If there is a large dynamic range in the sweep you can bracket each exposure too.

They were all fixed aperture, as you suggest, up until the P4 Pro came out.

if you are using full manual settings you need to leave the settings pane open or swipe it out of the screen, closing it by tapping the settings button puts it back to auto.
