Hey all.

So I have about $150 I'm allowing myself to blow on my P3A.  I was trying to decide between a third battery or the DBS antenna mod.

Anyways, what would you all do with the money?  Feel free to throw in other suggestions besides those two as well.

All you opinionated people and nobody wants to help me decide this one?

Hello! I have some suggestions for you. Are you satisfied with the range of your drone? If you are not satisfied or really like long range FPV, I would buy DBS mod, no question. If you really don't care about FPV, buy an extra battery. Personally, I would buy DBS mod because I really enjoy long range FPV.

Thanks for the reply! I got a mile with it yesterday and that was my longest attempt. I'm sure i I could have gone further stock but I worry about the stock range ability at that point. I haven't used both batteries and wished I had another waiting for me yet, but who knows if that day will come!

Decisions decisions!

I don't have any personal experience with the DBS mod but if you're referring to the itelite DBS mod you can spend and additional 50 or 60 bucks and get them both I believe.

Hmm? I thought the mod was $110-120 and the battery is $150? I would want to be sure it was a stock DJI battery.

Don't worry to much about the stock range ability, it should be able to go 4 miles one way Since it seems that you are not really in to FPV, I would recommend buying that extra battery

Now if there was a way to use my Samsung gear vr, I'd totally go for some fpv fun, but since there's no way to do that yet without basically destroying the glasses...

I bought three extra flight battery packs, and wish I had a couple more. Hahaha
It's nice to go flying and have plenty of extra battery for a nice long drone experience.
An extra micro sd card is nice to have, too. ;-)

I decided on the battery. Best buy price matched B&H. Charging now before i go camping for the weekend!

Also got the fearless bag and a couple extra sd cards in the mail today. Woot!

I have both, but my adivice is first the battery

Go for the battery.  You'll want more than two eventually.

A handy DC-AC power inverter for the car lighter socket will be handy, on out of town travel excursions... ;-)

Lost drone is common on forum, because this is where people come to complain about things.

People have different opinions about GPS trackers, some people find it useful, others don't.

The stock P3A can go as far as 3 miles in open field with few interference. With a pair of 20$ range booster, I know people who fly to 5 miles without losing image transmission.

Things happen all the time and 99% of it could have been prevented.
An inexpensive GPS tracker could possibly find your aircraft if you lose it.
Flying a few miles away in the middle of the desert and a bird attacks it or some situation like that.

I don't send hundreds of dollars worth of hobby supplies to virtual 'strangers'...

Yeah I tried that yesterday but the Best Buy I went to didn't have them in stock so they looked online and realized it was bestbuy.ca and said they couldn't honor that.

I'd be happy to paypal you the cash!  But first I'll try another best buy with them in stock.

I don't have a Paypal account. Hopefully someone in a local Best Buy will help you out.
Not sure why they have that cross border policy, it's all the same corporation. ;-)

Like so now, You da man!!  ...

I have the Fearless backpack.  Room for one more battery!  I went camping over the weekend and got a bit of nice footage I'll have to upload when I get to editing.  I was also chased by a seagull but this thing is so fast and nimble I got away!

I can't wait to see what kind of footage I'll get when I have more hours in the sky and experience in my thumbs.

Birds can be nasty, they frequently even get hostile towards our intrusion into their living rooms and kitchens. Hahaha
It will only keep getting better every day. ;-) yes, with more time aloft, you will be much more precise with drone and camera movements.
You might also want to try raising the RC sticks up, longer sticks make for finer degrees of aircraft control.
It's not the flying that is difficult for most though, with our Phantoms being so stable in the air.
But learning how to adjust the camera parameters for various different lighting scenarios, video settings and the like.
Particularly night compositions. Because an awesome clear sharp pic taken at dusk or at dawn often looks amazing. Ha
