Check TX channel when on auto and find clean channel.

On auto you shouldn't have to worry should you? I know you can go into custom and pick the channel with the best signal. Is that what most people are doing? I've seen some chatter on the forum about this but no one ever goes into any detail about it.... Anyone care to elaborate?

Sven funny I posted this earlier as the past few days I noticed on auto it picks a channel amongst many others that show unstable. Wonder whats up with that?
I hunt a lower clean channel area and channel  today for my first flight it went flawless.
Auto seems to not work as well as one may think and has me on alert to check channel area and strength manually before every flight.

YES! That's what I was hoping someone would come out and say! I've heard Tahoe_Ed take about scanning the channels for the best channel and asked for more info and never got it. I'm just looking for some real answers as at the end of the day I'm the one that flew my A/C not anyone else. So I can't blame anyone else. Unless it was a bug which DJI could figure out. So thank you for stepping out there and saying so Colonel Angus!!!!! My hats off to yea!!!!

Mike

It would be nice if the beta testers would speak up about the pros and cons of using Auto vs Custom when it came to channel selection!

For dummies like me...point the antennas correctly means Vertical not horizontal  position.
Power ON A/C don't mean the Air Conditioner in your car. LOL

Just found out to keep battery's warm or they don't charge in the field.
Its the Midwest and the battery sat outside for 6 hours for testing then tried to charge it, nothing.... Will wait an hour till it warms up a bit as current temps are a balmy 29 degrees.
Update: Confirmed once the battery temp rose to room temp it  charged took an hour tops.

Hey, I tried a test and didn't put my tablet in airplane mode man did it jazz up the TX channels ,toggle to airplane mode and massive signals detected all no red on the screen.
Lots to go over no doubt.

Yea I've read were the batteries can actually be either to cold or to hot. and I also noticed that I had allot better signals while in airplane mode with wifi turned off.... But it's good for people to check these things out their selves that way they are not taking anyone's word. Not that anyone would put out bad info but at the end of the day we only have ourselves to blame most of the time

Some of these things are getting to be part of my routine but there are lots of people out there that haven't gotten there inspires yet and if this can help save them then it was worth putting out there

Thanks again for sharing the info

Hey guys, over 200 flights with the A model. I ordered when the Inspire 1 was announced in NOV 14.

I've read every single crash/fly away post on all the pages/forums. I've put together a comprehensive pre-flight checklist that, I believe, prevents every preventable problem. Also, it;s way cool, because it lights up the boxes as you check them. And you get a green light when all the boxes are checked.

Inspire 1 Preflight checklist: http://www.dronefrontier.com/inspire1checklist/

Also, everyone asks the same silly questions everytime: How high does it fly? How far, how fast, how long?

Well I made a tshirt that answers all of the questions and it looks pretty good. Check it out here: http://outdoorengagement.com/collections/drone-pilot-apparel

Make sure the antennas are pointed correctly :-)

Good reminder.  Would also think it is wise not to angle the iPad holder so the metal back of he iPad inadvertently blocks the signals from/to the antennas (the old Faraday cage effect).
