I have just upgraded the firmware on my inspire 1 pro to 1.9.1.30 in the hope of being able to use the digital zoom that i read about a while back. i thought it would just be a simple pinch to zoom like a smart phone but having no luck. has anyone got this to work?
I realise the quality will be reduced but it is for inspection work on some powerlines that i dont want to get too close to.
I believe this feature (digital zoom) is available with new Zenmuse Z3 gimbal/camera. As for X5 you can perform optical zooming with particular lens like Olympus 14-42mm "pancake", although this is not the best quality glass. For really pro inspection photography I highly recommend Olympus 45mm prime lens.

Why would you downgrade your X5 camera to Z3 system, since you can get much better quality image w ...
Both options are valid, though there are those that would not want the Focus aspect of the X5 and do not want to deal with the extra work to ensure proper balance.
I have got the 14mm to 42mm lens and balancing ring. seems to be pretty good so far. it seems as though the balance isn't perfect as it still drifts around even when on the ground and it is a hell of a squeeze to get on the camera. Photos look great though so should be good for doing inspections. Time will tell!
Good to hear that this combination is working for you thus far. To clarify, is it major drift or is it minor? Has an IMU and gimbal calibration alleviate some of the drift?
