Thank you. This was the fort I was at when I replied to you yesterday I incorrectly stated it was a Roman fort; it's actually an Iron Age fort.
I was up there for over an hour waiting for a decent break in the clouds. I gave up, came down the hill and then the sun broke out... Back up the hill I went!

It's of such an age (2000 -3000 years old) that the geography alone gave a defensive advantage to a settlement. On a hillfort, the enemy had to get up there and this would have slowed them down. It may have been surrounded by additional trenches and a wooden fence to protect the encampment.

Heres a video clip I took yesterday - I have to work out where the video flicker is coming from and remember to slap on an ND filter when needed (there's Jello about!)
