I have the TabA 7in

I have the Tab A 8 inch. Works great. Only thing is sometimes it balks at making the initial connection. I heard that may be due to an issue with android 6 and USB devices. So far it seems to work best if I turn on (not just wake up but full power on/boot) the Tab after turning on the RC and connecting the cable.
I do not run any unneccesary apps and use airplane mode while flying BTW.

Samsung S2 T-710 8". Very nice screen,fast,light.
