Qustion for DJI,

If Pilots have made a concious decision not to update to the current version of firmware, is it possible to jump say 2 or 3 releases to the current firmware version. from e.g v01.08.01.00  to the current v01.09.01.30 .

I beleive it would be possible as the new version should have all update information within it.  If this was then done and you wanted to then downgrade backwards would it take you to the last official upgrade or the last one you had uploaded. e.g would it revert to v1.09.01.10 or the v01.08.01.00 version in the example above.

Would appreciate if DJI could clarify or if anyone has done this to confirm what was experienced.

It should not be a problem to update BUT you will only be able to downgrade 1 step. I had this discussion recently with support because I got a strange error they never heard before telling me the Inspire will be locked if I dont update within three days. No one knows why this message has shown up - only once. But they told me updating from 1.5 to anywhere is possible.

However I did not update. Too scared of problems though the assured me minus altitude waypoints should still work (while DJI-Ken said here in February it does not work).

I am also scared because some claim to have measured power output reduction in later Firmware, though some say its not true but DJI confirmed it on facebook. So actually no clear answer and I will not be the one testing it.

Yes, you can jump no problem from 1.5 to 1.9 if you wish . BUT if you decide to downgrade , you will wont be  able to go back to 1.5 only back to the most previous from 1.9 which would be 1.8.

I hope this helps

Even if 1.8 was not on the system in the first place.

This is what I assumed.

I was talking to another UAV Pilot the other day and he seemed convinced that you had to update each individually up to the current version if you had missed one or two updates.

I told him that this is not what I understand to be correct, but the above comments seem to concur that you can update to the current version directly even if you have missed some updates.

Cheers to all contributing.

In the past there was some validity to  the claim, but things have changed.  ( after 1.3 AC update )  It is always best ( In my opinion ) to just keep in order, but if you cant then jumping is no problem.
