WOW! I fly line of sight for the most part and dabble with FPV. I have to say that is one heck of an antenna you have. Jeeez!!

Yeah... it's a little bit overboard... but then again I only use it once in a while when i wanna do some major distance

This guy did it using Horizon antennas and Uno duo, .I will have to task him to go 3.9mls.

His is a totally different situation  anyway ... he is on 2.4Ghz control ... and using aftermarket immersonic FPV feed... On Vision and Vision Plus , we are using 5.8Ghz control and stock DJI FPV to the wifi extender...

So anyway... we're not really in the same hardware class and therefore don't really compete with eachothers setups and range claims...

Whoa!! Have seen many a setups but none as impressive as this one. Like you said (and I agree), cant compare P2V+ setups with P2 fpv setups. Just a quick Q, those small panel antennas pulled out from the range extender and placed at both ends of the phantom, are those for the 5.8 RC now or still connected to the 2.4 video link on the phantom?

Hmmm what's the reason for going so far?  Bragging rights?
IMO it's  an unnecessary risk to go that far for very little to no benefit.  You risk loosing your Phantom far away with reduced chance of ever finding it again.  You stress the battery more than necessary.  Health risks by using high amplification of microwaves close to the body?  Also a big chance of having a run-in with the law by using a non certified/approved antenna system that likely is beyond the permissible EIRP.  Kind of difficult to hide it since it is anything but inconspicuous so it certainly will get attention if someone goes by.

Won't catch me doing a 4 mile run but still amazing seeing it can be done.

The antennas on the bird are the actual bird antennas... taken out of the battery compartment and positioned front and back for better link at long distances... I've used the range extender antennas for a smaller ground setup when 4 mile distance isn't in the plan for the day.

I'm using  2 watts or less on directional antennas that direct the power away from me... I think everything is gonna be okay. .. I think there's much more risk with that redneck puddle jumper in your profile pic

My redneck puddle jumper is fully street legal and enhances my manhood.  How legal is your 2 Watt Popcorn popper with the authorities?

I don't worry about it... where we fly is so far out and away from town there aren't any "authorities" who care... the only two that have ever commented on it are the two that i have built custom setups for.
(if you think that rock box enhances your manhood then i understand your warped point of view about these other things)
