Should this be set to "A" while flying? When I recieved this camera it was at 4 with a protective sleeve around it. So i thought maybe it doesnt matter while you are flying, it over rides this dial and goes off what you input to the dji go app.  Im not sure but cannot find an answer. can anyone confirm?.

The way I understood it in the directions was to always have the camera aperture set at "A"  on the dial and also on the switch for "MF and AF"  should be set to "AF"  this is because the focus and aperture are controlled by the DJI  GO APP.  

I hope this helps , I wish someone ( DJI ) would write a comprehensive manual of the X5 .  The one you download is rudimentary at best .
***Keep that dust cover on as well, the amount of dust and what not blown up in the prop wash is awful for this type of equipment.

The standard DJI X5 lens is modeled after the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm F1.7 ASPH which was released back in 2014. Reviewers of the Panasonic lens stated "It can also be set to ‘A’, which transfers aperture control to the camera body if you prefer."

But the DJI X5 User Guide clearly notes that setting the camera lens to AF mode will allow the GO App to control both focus and aperature digitally. -> Click here to download the DJI X5 User Manual.



So it won't hurt to set the Aperature ring to "A", but as Donnie confirms, the GO App will control both the focus and aperature as long as you set the focus mode the AF....

Great explanation and visuals Terry!  quick question , the 32 channel update only effects the  video Transmission correct ?  someone on you tube is trying to say that the Video and RC control are effected by updating the Go app to 32 channels .   I was under the impression that channels 13 -20 ONLY contol the Aircraft and channels 1 -32 can handle video .  I am correct on this .

It's my understanding that DJI Lightbridge uses 10Mhz wide OFDM (click here if you're interested in what OFDM is) channels from 2401MH to 2481MHz (8 channels, DJI 13 -> 20).

  
When you perform the 32 channel hack, you are adding manual selection capabilities for channels 1 (2281 MHz) through 12 (2401MHz) and channels 21 (2481MHz) through 32 (2601MHz). These lower channels 1-12 were found to belong to HAM radio and Sat/Space Communication, while the upper channels 23-32 belong to Sprint LTE for cellular usage.   

Channels 21 and 22 appear to be open ISM channels.

It's my understanding  that the DJI control channels for analog sticks, buttons, wheels, etc. are 1-2MHz wide and use FHSS frequency hopping between 2400MHz and 2490MHz only (click here if you're interested in what FHSS is).

It seems logical that control would require less bandwidth but require more robust and stable communication. Video is secondary to control, requires more bandwidth, and lends itself to user configuration.

The goal of the GO App configuration is to try to eliminate ISM frequency, Wifi interference. 802.11b Wifi uses channels 1, 6, 11, & 14.
For the US, channel 20 is often the best choice since wifi channels 12,13, & 14 aren't used in the US. This would extend to hacked channels 21 & 22 as well. If you are interested in the Wifi spectrum then click on this link to learn more:

I always kept mine at A (Auto) Never had it anywhere else so I don't know what that would do. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it should be left on A.
