Hey Ken

Some have been reporting rapid battery drain using the iPhone 6 / 6s while using the new DJI Go App 4.0  can you say anything about this issue?

Rich,
Yes you can have both on your device. The 4.0 may take a bit more processing power to run and that may be why.
Feel free to test the drain with both apps. Maybe fly around for 20 minutes with your phone at 100% and see what it is after you land. Then charge your phone back up and repeat with the other app for 20 minutes and see what the % is.

Is it true that the Mavic batteries simply take a 13.05 volt up to 8 amp source, and the battery manages the CC/CV charge? If so, it would be simple to make a charger to use in the car that does not shut down at 12.6 volts. This shutoff feature renders my car charger useless unless I am driving.

Using a non DJI charger may void the warranty.

The Standard charging hub is the M1CH-S.  The Advanced will be called the M1CH-P.  I noticed in the manual that both units charge faster using a car charger, probably because a car battery can supply more current than the power supply.  Interestingly the Standard hub, using the regular Mavic car charger, can charge 4 batteries in 4 hours while the Advanced hub will be able to charge 4 batteries in 3 hours with the regular Mavic car charger and 2.5 hours with the Phantom car charger.  Quite a difference.  Seems like if you have the $ it might be worth while to purchase a Phantom car charger and Advanced hub when it's released.

Thank you Ken, I have downloaded and installed the new 4.0 App and the new update on the 3.1 App.  I will try and test them today but the weather is pretty bad  (cold)

Are you using the new Go App 4.0?  what is your impression so far?

So I cant feel my hands? is this normal after flying?  Its cold outside and I finished the first flight. I know that you wanted everything at 100% at start but this is tracking it with what I had:
one flight test before the weather was to bad:

Starting values on everything
Go App 4.0
Mavic Pro
flight battery      98%
Remote battery 100%
iPhone 7             92%
19min flight
total 2,196 ft. at 96 ft.  non aggressive flight in GPS / normal mode cruising speed around at 10- 15 mph and hovering
Finish readings
flight battery      28%
Remote battery   93%
iPhone 7             81%
Outside temp is  37*F
19 min flight with Mavic consumed battery percentages:
flight battery      70%
Remote battery   7%
iPhone 7             11%

PS I didn't see the Inspire series or OSMO on the App anywhere?

Thanks for posting that Rich, it should help others to show what the IOS battery drain is.
Currently the app is only for the P4 and Mavic
Let's see what happens in the coming weeks.
Thanks again for the testing, I owe you a hot chocolate

Hi Ken

Make that 2 cups of HOT chocolate

I wanted to get this done today during the same conditions... it got a little colder about 35*F

Starting values on everything
Go App 3.11 Mavic Pro
flight battery      100%
Remote battery 100%
iPhone 7             100%
21 min flight
total 3,884 ft. at 142 ft.  non aggressive flight in GPS / normal mode cruising speed around at 10- 15 mph and hovering
Finish readings
flight battery      26%
Remote battery   96%
iPhone 7             93%
Outside temp is  35*F
21 min flight with Mavic consumed battery percentages:
flight battery      74%
Remote battery   4%
iPhone 7             7%

Looks like the DJI Go App 4.0 may have an additional power draw vs the Go App 3.11

Thanks again for the testing, 2 cups of hot chocolate and a case of beer
I do think the 4.0 does a little more than the older app, and your test showed.
Thanks again.

Hi Ken.

You are welcome and the tests were very interesting (not super controlled lab experiment) and it does show a difference between the Go App versions.  Not like I have seen others talking about with the iPhone 6 / 6S.

During the second flight about 1 minute into the test I got the gimbal vibration abnormal message. I came down to look at the front of the camera during the flight at about 7 feet and did not see any issues. I cycled the camera completely several times and the message went away. I did notice some shaking on the videos that I haven't seen before in earlier flights.  As you know I didn't land and continued the test flight for a total of 21 minutes.  Any ideas what would cause this?

Thanks ... I might need that beer now

I don't know the cause, there's all kinds of new sensor warnings. Maybe a quick movement or some air buffeting.
Let me know if it happens often.

Hi Ken
Thanks, I have not seen this before and maybe it just needed to be recalibrated?  Today it is snowing so flying is out for now

I think it was some kind of air disturbance, that gimbal is tiny and wind may give you that warning.
I'm just guessing though, see if it persists.

Thank you Ken, I will keep a watch for this happening again and let you know. The video was not as solid as I have come to expect from the Mavic. It could have been a one off event?
