I think its more comfortable this way, by lowing the centre of gravity.

Kind regards

Interesting , but does it work ? That fact that he's essentially reversed the connections , would that not alter the direction of the camera ?

Haven't tried this one, like torch mode, but when I need higher shots it's a bit awkward, good job thank you

I think the Z axis underslung mod feels better, looks better and most importantly works better. Here's a video sample with the mod.

How do you actually spin it around. I get the concept but can't find out how to do it.

I'm guessing you need to unscrew the bolts and flip the head over. I imagine springs flying everywhere if I tried it

Cool, how long did it take to flip it over? Tools needed?

I did mine. For more details, check DJI Osmo Owners Facebook Group. Selfie won't be possible but works like a charm otherwise.

You just have to undo the 4 screws holding the head with an allen key then flip the head down twisting the ribbon cable. There is a way of doing it without twisting the ribbon cable but this involves undoing all the electronics in the head.

You just have to undo the 4 screws holding the head with an allen key then flip the head down twis ...

Undoing the electronics in the head is simpler that it sounds, it's only about pulling gently the ribbon out of the connector on the back of the small plate that is found in the head....
Where it gets slightly more complicated though is that to have the gimbal still oriented normally (i.e. double tap and the camera faces forward) while the head is upside down, the small plate (and the mount around it obviously) has to be turned 180° compared to its normal position...no big deal except there are two little spots and a bit of an edge that need to be dremelled down to allow this. The pics posted by Sergio on the Facebook page show this better than I could explain with words.

If you don't grind those parts in the head, you can only do the mod by twisting the cable, and the gimbal will not face forward when double tapping. You can still use it fine but will need to triple-tap and engage the selfie mode to have the camera facing forward.

Personally I went for the grinding, nothing complicated, just go slow if you're using a dremel or drill so as not to damage the screw mounts that are just next to those spots that need to be ground down.

One final note, if you do the grinding mod, note that the marks on the head and the locking ring will not be aligned anymore...not a deal-breaker as far as I'm concerned.

Happy moding to all! : )

After looking through the post I would caution anyone doing this that people are aware you have the system.  In this day and age it could be mistaken as a pistol.
