thought this was pretty cool. What do you guys reccommend if something likes this happens? bring the mavic down and check for damages?

nothing special with that. did the same with my P4 on numerous occasions. of course you should land to check for damages.

Yes, but not from the side.And you also have to have obstacle avoidance enabled and in P-Mode (it is on default)

Yeah that is pretty cool actually. It's so light and responsive that as long as it doesn't get completely out of calibration then it can recover (assuming it has enough distance from ground to do it). Pretty incredible.

No, not in this case. If you notice that it is not aimed forward to the tree. The pilot was moving the Mavic sideways, and there are no side, rear, top/bottom collision sensors. The anti-collision sensors are forward facing only.

I'm sure eventually we'll see collision detection from all sides one day, as sensors get cheaper.

did just that autopiloting with the Litchi app. was doing low level flying around the neighborhood, and of course didnt take into account of low tree limbs. P4 made it home okay, but propeller was pretty dinged up. wasnt smart ;)

Oh? Well, seems like german IT news sites don't know their sh*t then, they actually said it would have sensors on the front, sides and back...

I could watch that all day!
