I do not want to update to the latest firmware because of the range issues, but I also do not know what important fixes or features I may or may not be missing, by sticking with this older firmware. I was wondering if I can update to the second to last firmware, using pretty much the same process as people use to downgrade their firmware, if that will work.

Advice?

Do not update to any version. 1.2.40 is a perfect version without any problem at all. and there were problems with older firmware versions too. not only 1.6.8. so if your drone works well. keep it that way..

I would keep it as is, but for the general person upgrading is probably much better

They are all right, do not update!!!
I updated my p3s from 1.5.6 to 1.6.8 and i have to send back my p3s!

I have been on that version since I bought my drone. I will never update. Just stay where you are.. I get great range sometimes up to 2 miles.

Same with me. Stay with 1.2.40 I have never updated and I haven't had any problems. (knock on wood)

Its sad that anyone even needs to ask a question like this...  Oh well
