I was searching for some Pelican case options, but DJI hasn't yet been able to give me dimensions for the controller, battery, charger, etc.

well why you need a hard case , it will make it unportable , i know tat we have to protect our invest but , the greatest  thing about the mavic is the portability

Something like the Pelican 1200 would still be portable for me, with the added benefit of being protective and keeping everything together in one place.

Especially if I take the Mavic on an airplane. I'd like to transport it inside a hard case that I can carry-on and throw it in the overhead storage without worrying about anything getting crushed.

I purchased a Lowepro AVC1. I have a feeling the Mavic may not fit but the dimension seem good. This is just for the Mavic though and not the controller. I plan to put the whole setup in the camera bag.

Lowepro Dashpoint is too small to even fit just the Mavic Pro...  Check out the Kelty Cache Box.

Its a tight squeese to fit in the 1200. Had to use a bit of cardboard to divide the transmitter and mavic.

Is the depth of that case sufficient, or just enough?

I'm keen to get a hard case for my Mavic, TX, 3-4 batteries, and charger.  I get the idea that it is portable, but I need a case to transport it around that can be chucked around, and not risk damaging the craft.  The number of times I come off my Mountain bike, I'd hate for it to get broken because it was just loose in my rucksack, or in a soft case.  110kg of me falling on it isn't going to end well, even if it is in a soft case!

I think that 1400 is suitable for Mavic better. INTERIOR: (L X W X D) 11.81" x 8.87" x 5.18" (30 x 22.5 x 13.2 cm). Internal places should be enough for quadrocopter, controller, 2x battery and the smartphone.

Yeah, the 1400 is what I've been looking at. Had a feeling the 1200 wouldn't be wide enough.

The RC sticks not being removable also changes things a bit.

Also got the 1450 and its have tons of space. Have already made slots for two extra batteries plus mavic, rc, charger and cables, memorycard and extra propellers. Got enough space for the charging hub and 4-5 pairs of props when they arrive.

Thank you!

Only a 1200 will normally fit into my trekking backpack. A 1400 is too big for it.

Has anyone tried taking off and landing on a Pelican case? It'd be cool to have the case double as a take-off/landing pad.

Takeoff is no problem, but landing takes some precision. I wouldn´t  risk it sliding off landing on its side propellers spinning.

I just ordered Polar Pro's $99 hard case for the Mavic. Just in time for my Asia trip this coming December.

It is a pre-order item and will be shipping Nov. 29th on first 100 units *hint Mavic pre-order lol*

I was waiting for GPC to make one but I couldn't risk not having a hard case for a 13-hour long flight and rough terrain travel where I am going.

This one looks to be an exact copy of the one from Carolina Dronz for almost half the cost.  For $55, this one might be hard to say no to.
Looks to be the same one that Polar Pro is offering as well.  Just without the little emblem.
