So i got my mavic today, read the whole manual but nothing about this subject. And i dont see it in the app itself. Maybe im just looking in the wrong places. Anyone who got the drone already knows how to do this?

Under General Settings you will see "Choose Livestreaming Platform".

Pretty sure you'll only be able to do it if you have an iPhone, which sucks.

Not true.
For the moment yes, but it was posted elsewhere (think Osmo Mobile) that it will be added soon for Android. This has nothing to do with Iphone vs Android. It is how DJI does development. If they would only release both app at the same time with same features, no one would notice this.

The problem with Android phones are that they can't connect to WiFi and Cellular at the same time, at least most of them. I have the original Osmo and this is the case on why it wouldn't work. If the Mavic is not connecting to the phone through WiFi then I guess it should be possible, I don't have mine yet, just thought that's how it was.

Does it need to connect to Wifi ? I thought the stream came through the R/C cabled into the phone, leaving the cellular network free to publish.

The Mavic doesn't use your phone's Wifi connection to connect with the remote. Live-streaming is available on both platforms using your cellular connection.

Well I hope that's the case because I would think it would be amazing to livestream a drone flight. I was just making assumptions, I don't really know except for on the Osmo because there is no record attachment.

I wanted to get the google PIXEL XL phone but im not sure if it'd work with the MAVIC or am i wrong

It is a very new phone and has not yet been tested by R&D. I have been using my Nexus 6p with Android N successfully, so there is a good chance it will work. However, I can't guarantee it until more testing is done.

OT, sort of.  I've read through the manual and have not discovered how to enable tripod mode.  Any hints?  Thanks!

It's in the Main Controller Settings tab, under Beginner Mode. Only seen when you are connected to the aircraft.
Some of the options are only visible when connected to the aircraft.

My issue wound up being that I was in sport mode.  When in sport mode, the menus for all other modes goes away.

That said, tripod mode was awesome once I got into it!
