Can anyone suggest a good "starter drone" for a my firends 10 year old son? He wants one with a camera and mom wants something that won't break the bank.
Something for a inexperienced flyer under $100.

Go for Syma x5w the boy will love it, I took 1 to holiday in Italy for a mouth  and give it away to the local kids they all love it and still fly it
I had the syma x8w and learned a lot (and it dint fly away) and  stuck a go pro on it for fun
They both come with camera and the less that £100 they just dont have position hold so you have to learn the hard way when you move on to the phantom i so EASY to fly that is if it dose not FLY AWAY!

Avoid the onago.

That's only for extremely experienced fliers, with lots of insurance.

I agree on the syma 5

basic version is camera and sd card

the w version is wifi to phone, good for 30-40 m
I took my camera off because I have more fun flying for sport with it.

works indoors and outdoors if wind is calm
fun and duarable
perfect for the user you have in mind.

have both versions

I watched a few Y/T vids about the Syma X5C-1.
It has decent flight time. (10 mins) and the range was 150m.
The reviewer said it was easy to fly and did well with wind.

I have used my syma to "walk the dog"
he loves chasing it and every now and then gets its.
5 minutes a great exercise for him running and jumping etc.

it just keeps on going....

I'd look into the Cheerwing Syma X5SW. It comes with a camera and wifi FPV for around $60. Otherwise here's a good list of drones for under $100. Hope this helps!
