All these various issues coming out making me a bit pleased that the seller cancelled my order. At least for now.

Is it a bug or is it a hardware problem,

Almost certainly a software bug.  It just looks like the analog stick position is being ignored while the program is off stuck in some other loop. I am almost certain it's NOT a hardware issue.

After owning several Phantom drones...  This is pretty typical stuff.  DJI always has some glitches with early launch software.  They will fix it if enough owners post detailed videos showing the issues.  Eventually they get it right.

Looks like maybe just a visual bug in the software since it shows 0% despite being far outside the deadzone at center.

Nope.  Not for a serious issue like this one.

This same video was posted in another thread.

I do not think this is a cause for concern, and here's why...

Notice that the eight ball gets stuck, BUT the numbers (the actual reading of the stick position) goes back to zero. I think you are looking at nothing more than a display bug in the DJI GO app, on the diagnostic screen. I do not think what you are seeing is related to any of the recent crashes.

I'm not so certain that's a huge deal.  Looks like the image is freezing but it's still centering.  My PC does that when I calibrate my Xbox 360 controller.

It's not a global issue because the Mavic hasn't been delivered globally.

So, should we ground our Mavic's until we better understand this? This would explain the spinning without remote inputs

Honestly...  After owning a P2 and a P3... If I saw a bug like this being reported... I would not fly until the next firmware update and look for other owners confirming it's safe to fly again.  But that's just me.  Others will disagree.

It looks like a graphical issue with the dot and not the actual reading. All the readings still show 0% when the stick is in the middle.

I would agree except for the couple of owners reporting crashes where the drone started spinning out of control and crashing.  It may be related.  It may not.  But I do think it's probable that there are still a few bugs to be worked out.  And all the feedback we can throw at them (With detailed videos.) will help.

Maybe do the stick calibration slowly and let the screen register the movements.
Its a stick calibration, so it only needs to know where the max and centre positions.

If I had a Mavic, I doubt I would let much of anything stop me from flying... as long as I knew I could run to the store and buy another off the shelf. So, BE CAREFUL! You won't get another one anytime soon.

I did a recalibration of my controller this evening. About to grab the controller and check if it was reading zero when the dot was not center. I do believe several times it showed a percentage. I'll film it and post it to YouTube if it shows an issue.

I am one of the first few to say I had this issue.

The way he let go, it almost seems as if the control is actually seeing the stick in that position, could it be some of that Mavic powder in there?  If anyone has it, best way to see if yours does the same is do the same calibration.

Just filmed a calibration and moving the sticks. The dot would get stuck in various positions but showed no values. If weather is good tomorrow evening I'll do another flight at the local soccer fields. I've only flown it once to test after the initial issue. Flew for 5 min roughly perfectly fine.

That does not explain the behavior in the video.  The stick simply stops responding to input at times.

We are talking about how erratic stick readings might be related to crashes.  It's HIGHLY relevant to the subject of this thread and all crash threads at this point.  It's about making users aware of issues. Not hiding them buried inside one single thread.

No.  Not really.  I am an experienced DJI owner.  I own P2 and P3.  I have my Mavic on order and I am waiting for it patently.  Meanwhile I am just pointing out some issues that DJI owners and engineers need to pay attention to.  Hopefully get a firmware update out before too many customers experience a crash.

It's all about making the Mavic better...

That's all.

I do think it's important that guys who have some experience, get involved, however once it has been taken on board by tech guys here and they report it to appropriate engineers, it will be those guys who will decide if firmwear is needed to rectify problem,
Opinions, photos and videos are all helpful to engineers , so yes the post is important, it does not need to be highlighted on every thread, one thread to discuss if sufficient, otherwise it becomes confusing to newer members. And almost comes across as panicking newer flyers, so I would ask Fulgerite to use one thread for these specific issues.
