It's been mentioned you don't need GPS if you have VPS. How does this work? Is it another mode or what? I'd like to try it but don't feel like risking my Mavic flying into the wall again.
If flying indoors the mavic will use "vision" ( downward sensors and the status will say that ).
Here is and example I just did showing indoor flight and entering tripod mode, note that forward vision is disabled due to close proximity to things. ( excuse the mess, I have a young boy )
Oh, and before the safety police come my way, I likely have more indoor flying hours that most have outdoors
Thank you for the quick video, sploodge. It is difficult judging the stability when the camera filming Mavic is not fixed. There are TONS of YouTube videos like that, too.
Ok, still having issues. It seems to go into Opti mode only in certain spots in my place, otherwise it's mostly in Addi mode. What's more is that now I can't find Tripod mode at all. It was there before?!?

What are your lighting conditions? What are you flying over (carpet, shiny floor, etc..) all those will play a part in how the vision system functions. Maybe in some places the vision system can see and others it can't so it has to use Atti mode?
