Is it possible to enter waypoints on a map without flying them & saving?

Nope.. Its the same as the P3/P4

Unfortunately not you must firs fly the route, with P4 you could use litchi app which is a paid for app, and it is an excellent app $20, I'm sure litchi are at this moment working on the app to include Mavic. For smooth videos and 360x180 spherical photos it's a great app,

Well they will, once DJI releases the SDK for the Mavic. At present only the Phantom, Inspire 1, OSMO, and Matrice Series are supported. DJI-Ken mentioned elsewhere that they will be releasing the SDK in the future. I'm guessing they want to make sure their own code and firmware are consistent and more stable first.

I'd been wondering about that, I was worried there wouldn't be anything to plot a route like I can with my other.

Their are apps like Litchi and autopilot.. But they have not ben updated yet for Mavic.. Litchi told me as soon the SDK is open for the Mavic they will be updating there software..

I've never used Litchi before but I have friends that use it and they like it.

I talked to Litchi before I bought it because I knew I was going to buy a Mavic and I knew it was not updated yet.. But after playing with the Litchi software app and on the web, is pretty good.. I like how you can build a simple flight path in Google earth with altitudes and export it so you can import it in to Litchi on the web and modify it any way you'd like.. Theirs a lot of great videos out on Litchi.. I cant wait to get my Mavic and test out all the different flight plans I made once the app gets updated..

I may try out Litchi sometime, I've only used the GO app and it does all I really need it to do.But just to try something new may be nice.

Here's a couple videos to check out you might like about Litchi..
One of these guys sends it in way out there and loses signal for like five+ minutes while it's flying its path. I know that's a little crazy.  Definitely an app where you have to use commonsense and don't do something stupid for sure. You definitely want to make sure you plan out your waypoints (double check altitudes) and path very well and testings before you do a full run. But you can set up for some really cool shots with this app so once the SDK is open and they update their app this will be pretty awesome..

Hey Ken , if we use a third party software like Litchi and there was a manufacturing defect (hardware/software) . would it still be covered under warranty?

Does this app work well or at all if you don't have a data signal?  By that I mean, can you cache maps for later route planning?  I go up to Alaska a lot and up there, mobile data is iffy at best at times.  But, I'd still like to be able to program routes and waypoints.  That question asked, how about the regular Go app?

Its made with Litchi and a Phantom 3 Adv. Only manuel is a little  camera angel. 4.30 min and no cutting, all in one shot

If the aircraft is sent in and by analyzing the flight data recorder shows a malfunction then it would probably be covered.
But if the aircraft was lost the flight data analysis team can get flight data from the GO app flight logs tht you sync to the DJI cloud and if it shows a malfunction then it may be covered.
BUT, if you use a 3rd party app and the aircraft is lost then DJI cannot analyze the flight data recorder or flight data from the GO app so I would think there would be no warranty. But I'm in tech support and you would have to get a more concrete answer from customer service.

Thanks. Ill stay with GO app till i get comfortable flying my drone before moving on to a different app.

I would definitely do that. Also take it slow, it's a $1,000 aircraft and any kind of pilot error has the potential to be a very expensive repair.

Yes.Draw the path using Google Earth and the save as .kml. Open the Litchi's Mission Hub, pull the recently saved path to your screen and... voila!

Think he maybe meant with dji app, although since this thread was launched dji have now launched GS and it is now possible to create and save a mission from home...
