I've seen two video's on youtube of mavic going about 60MPH and was wondering if this is GPS glitch or is it really traveling that fast?  When out of sport mode it shows 28-32mph in these videos so it seems odd it would be correct in one mode and wrong in another?
thanks

That would be groundspeed.

TBH I haven't been overly impressed with any of the YouTube reviews on any of the new releases. Safe flying is largely absent - and all seem to lack any knowledge of principles of flight.

Yesterday I saw two "experts" conclude that the Mavic, which was flying over some trees, was "faster into a headwind" than the P4 some 100 feet above it because "the smaller size meant it was better at cutting through the wind"???

I had a dog kennel that hit 30mph once (!) so I guess the Mavic could easily exceed 100mph groundspeed if the tailwind was strong enough.

Hi, the top speed on sport mode is 65km/h(18m/s).
The top speed on P mode :10m/s(turn on the obstacle sensing system);15m/s(turn off the obstacle sensing system)

Of course it will be a lot faster flying with a tail wind.

Wait, no one is paying attention. In the video, it shows the horizontal speed in ALL DIRECTIONS to be ridiculously faster than advertised.  EVEN IN TRIPOD MODE!!!!!

Perhaps watch the video multiple times, I don't know, but there is an obvious error here if it is using GPS speed.

I've seen some videos and wondered about this as well.  It would be nice if someone could verify the speeds with a a radar gun.  Either way, something is definitely off.  Either it's flying faster than it's supposed to or it's relaying false information.

Yes.  THAT'S JUST THE SPEED...
What about the other telemetry?  Altitude, VPS altitude, etc.
Seems like a super easy fix, either way.

In the above video, his menu also says "Triple Pod Enabled" but it's not enabled.  What does that even mean in ANY language?

I have also seen these videos showing speeds reported by the DJI GO app of 59-63 mph in BOTH directions - so, it is not a "wind" related result. My educated guess would be this is a software bug where speeds in sport mode that are displayed in mph are actually in kilometers per hour. If this is the case, you would need to divide the displayed numerical speed by 1.6 to get true mph speed. So, 63 bogus mph (really kph) would really be 39 mph.

DJI Ken - any comment on this from your software engineers?

Likewise mine reports 60 mph both directions in sport mode. Software bug I reckon. Perhaps when this bug effecting imperial unit users, thought could be given to changing max alt units to feet as well

I'm ashamed I found this so late. I can tell you for a fact that my mavic did fly 60 miles per hour. I have a distance between my house and a friend's that measures exactly one mile. And I have been able to from I'm at speed start crossing my property to his at 60 Seconds. Since the latest update my stats in my app have been reset Mi drone barely flies 30 miles an hour. It certainly doesn't help that DJI plays dumb with my question as to why they would mess with my recorded stats or settings at all.

I'm ashamed that I found this so late. I can tell you the my mavic used to fly at 60 miles per hour. I have a distance between my house and a friend's house that is one mile apart exactly according to Google Earth. From a flying start I could reach from my property to his in about 60 seconds. Since the update my drone barely flies 30 miles per hour and my stats have all been reset to very low speeds.

There used to be a firmware bug that reported the KPH value (e.g., 60+ KPH) as MPH, and I suspect that's what you were seeing. If you're really convinced that yours got up to 60 MPH then upload one of the flight logs where it did to either here or here and provide us a link so that we can see it.

Keyword, "rumor"...with that said, there is a company that I won't name that has a hack to increase speed, amongst other things.  Though there is no way in hell that it'll reach 100mph.  For starters, the batteries would "puff".

You can get into the program to increase the aggressiveness of the tilt. Mine was doing 56mph but, i didnt max out the parameters. I was too worried about overloading the esc or motors or.... who knows. Its not designed for that.
Cheers!

This is an old post and subject but i had my mavic 2 pro up to 57mph. But thats because i was tweaking that attitude tilt parameters. I could have maybe done a little more but, i didnt want to destroy it. But sure, it maybe capable of doing 60 but id say that would be all.

Of course it will be a lot faster flying with a tail wind.

I am pretty certain the software keeps the tailwind from having an effect on speed.  The props and motors are likely programmed to maintain it.  This is an educated guess; I have flown in high winds with the Mini, Pro, and Phantom, and neither goes over their DJI specified speed limit even when followed by a pretty strong tailwind.
