The transmission image is unusable. Sorted through a number of threads and am still confused as to the fix.

I have the exact same problem using the same app and firmware versions in Remote Controller and Phantom 4.


The problem started after the latest firmware update and I have been flying with Android phones (Sony XZ and Z2), android tablet (Sony Z1) and iPhone 6. On all these devices, the transmission signal is very weak, even at close range (less than a meter from Remote Controller).  There's green screen, black screen, pixelation and weak transmission signal warning. Basically the Phantom can be flewn only by visual sight as there's no actual FPV visual on device screen.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Doesn't matter how close or how far the P4 is from the controller. I get the same non usable video transmission while just a foot away.

I first experienced this today. I have not flown in a month due to rain but today for the first time in a while I went out. While it rained I updated the controller firmware and the DJIgo app. Before hibernation all was fine, now I loose video signal in less than a meter. On and off but not flyable. I use an iPad 3 and an iPhone 6s.

Now what is really interesting is this does not happen when I use my head play FPV goggles plugged into the HDMI slot. I can see and fly perfectly fine with them. If I lift up the goggles to look at my 6s it has no/intermitant video signal.

Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about the trouble, would you please provide us a video about the issue for further evaluation?

My video on the card is fine, on the FPV goggles is fine only connection problems with the connection to iPhone 6s and iPad 3. I could do a screenshot?

I have tried the recommended fixes too and still image signal is borked. My issue wasn't related to the firmware upgrade, it happened when I flew it first time after repair to fix another problem. The unit seems plagued with issues both out of the box and after "repair" that took more than a month.  heeeeeeeeelp - I have asked for a replacement for the unit I paid for in August as it has simply not worked. I've made videos, taken screen caps, done the thumb drive thing so a replacement seems in order. The unit has only been flown in tests out of the box and has suffered no damage or misuse.

I am reluctant to be so quick to send it to the service center, as I see many are having this issue since the latest rounds of updates to the Go App and controller. Everything was working perfectly prior to the software updates.

JACKODOG, I saw your post about rc rollback. The link refers to a bricked controller... Mine isn't bricked, I wonder if the process is the same....

I have the same problem and the problem seems to be in the DJI Go app.
I have the same video transmission problems I have redone all the firmware I have redone the app with no fix.
I can fly with FPV goggles(Fat Shark D3) with no video transmission problems. You can also use a different app such as Autopilot for DJI.

Same here! HDMI is great. I have good video on the phone for like 10 seconds. Recorded video is fine. Lichi also messed up. Tried ipad, Nexus6 and Pixel XL.

I can not downgrade the Firmware on the P4. Get "Update failed" every time. Trying to update the RC with USB now.

DJI said send it in. Not ready to give up yet.

ill let yall know what I do.

I should mention you can also use this same method to downgrade the Phantom 4 as well. Just hookup the USB. Works when DJI Assistant 2 does not.

Yes, it does work. I had the latest firmware on the bird before the remote upgrade. I did a refresh of the aircraft firmware then the remote upgrade and now I CAN SEE! Thanks all

So that blog is dated May 6, 2016. And referencing roll back downgrade of  RC from 1.6.0 to 1.58...
Is that what you did, or are you just suggesting this method?

What App version, RC version, and P4 version combinations are working for you?

I was too optimistic at first. I had this image problem less than one meter away.  When I followed the "fix" it seemed to work in the house. Alas, when I tested it in the real world I lost the signal pretty quick, with in 10 meters. Same black green screen with the warning. I think its up to DJI to come up with an upgrade fix on this one. I want to film some logging here and since lots of the filming is over water, building log booms etc. I do not want to risk anything until this is perfect. All my app versions are the latest

I did the same..rolled back the RC update and rebooted the RC and using Litchi...using both Samsung note3 and Samsung A6 tablet..all good...even in very strong winds..

Testing between rain showers, I did two roll backs, one to 1.6 and then to 1.5. The only time I got decent video reception was in 1.5 but then the bird would not fly. 1.6 I had the same issues with loss of video signal in very short range. The video on the card is great and it works with FPV. I have spent most of the day reading about this, reseting everything I could, for no solution. I guess I will wait for DJI. At least the weather sucks or I would be really disappointed. Its OK to fly but filming is impossible if you don't know what your camera is doing.

You tested it in the same case with three different versions, right? would you please post screenshots for HD page with V1.6 and V1.5 respectively?
What is the system version for your iPhone 6s and iPad 3?
After installing V1.5, you have calibrated the remote and re-linked it to aircraft? have you tried to press "Auto-takeoff" in APP to check whether it could take off?

I have already reinstalled the latest firmware as the older did not work so I can't do screenshots but they all look like the shot from my post above done in 1.8. As I said 1.5 had no image problems. On 1.5 I did auto take off, I always take off in auto land in manual, and it would not lift off. I always keep my phone and iPad up to date with the latest software. I have tried just about everything mentioned in this post to no avail. My aircraft was working very well until this last barrage of updates. I'm not sure if its the firmware update, ISO update, or DJI update.

Have you tried to downgrade the RC firmware and see if the transmission still the same or not?

Thanks for the details.
Since you have done all the methods mentioned, it would be best to send it in for further evaluation by our engineers to figure out where the problem exists. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
BTW, you tested it with IOS devices, but not Android devices, would you please have a try if possible?

Surely that with all the people having the same issue your techs are not looking at the software? To send my machine back is a real hassle when it was fine until the upgrades. The video works fine with my FPV goggles I think I will wait until DJI get their ____ together.

Hello i have the same issue. In the DJI Go App I see only a weak (green) video. On HDMI is it clean. When I use the Litchi app is the Video clean. When I close the Litchi app and use the dji go app again, I can change the “transmission quality” (in DJI Go) setting to 8Mbit and the video was perfect. I think that the default “transmission quality” value in the DJI Go App is to high.

I also have this problem. I haven't flown the P4 in a while. Since the controller update i believe. Prior to updating to the new firmware update, 1.2.602, I noticed a break down in video. I tried to install firmware using Assistant 1.0.6 but kept receiving firmware failed. I then used my iPad with the supplied usb to mini cord provided in p4 box, and firmware was successful that way. Updated all batteries and restarted. Still same video breakdown. Any answers out there?
