at the same location, approximately same time of day:
Mavic 10 to 12 satellites
Phantom 4 16 to 19 satellites

Maybe it only indicates satellites it will be using'?

I've seen a video on YouTube, where a Mavic Pro acquires up to 18 satellites. In fact, it stays connected to 17-18 satellites for the entire video. Depends on the location I guess.

I am only concerned why the Phantom 4 should be getting more satellites in exactly the same, totally clear location. No buildings at all, no trees for about 400 m.

Joachimb, it's an open place without any interference?
Have you tried to change another location to check how may satellites Mavic can receive?

I've seen this anomaly too. In clear open areas isolated from RFI, I still sometimes get as few as 12 or 14 connected which then restricts some of the automated features.

Yes, fully open area. A playing field up on high seaside cliffs, no trees or buildings.
I did another flight with the updated firmware - that was better, 14 satellites. But still my p4 would get consistently over 17 satellites

14 is Maximum  satellites i ever saw

14-16 has been my max.
