I would really reccomend everybody check inside the lens with a flashlight siding the camera. I noticed something wrong with my pictures and checked it out. The inside (little optical lens) its scratched or dirty. The bad thing is I am leave the country in the beggining of December and they don't have a estimated time for repair. Waiting DJI answer email.

Just makes me wonder if these camera's are being assembled in a clean room? I will be checking my lense when I get my Mavic. I hope it's ok.

With the increase of mavics having issues with the lens, I wonder if you were a mechanically inclined person if you could get in there and clean and fix it yourself.  It would probably void the warranty but if you had dji care would it not matter anyway?

Yes I was thinking about it but I don't have Dji Care because I am moving to Brazil in the first week of December. Dji Care doesn't cover there. Makes me even more upset.

As filters will also be available I assume (without my Mavic yet) that the "front element" is actually a filter and is removeable. Is the dust / dirt on the real front element and can you clean it if you remove the filter (all very carefully and I would advise using a blower and no liquid unless you've done this before with small optics?

JUst receive my Mavic and the first thing I look is the lens. I am almost certainly sure that there are dusts particles inside the lens on different layers of glasses. On first layer there is a rather large hair? and on the second layer (lens itself?) there are many many smaller dusts. I don't know if it affects imaging qualities in anyway as I am still charging my drone and remote.

Also, what's the point of charging station if it can only charging one battery at a time?

links for the macro photos of the lens dusts.

That's a serious assembly error. Wonder if they are doing that in another location then their other drones.

Perhaps the P4 aslo has this, but noone ever looked at it? I wouldn't be happy if that would be on mine.

@wandering cloud - have you removed the filter to see if this is simply assembly in a dusty environment (not good, but not requiring repair) ?

I don't think you can take the filter (1st layer of glass ) off easily without breaking the camera / gimbal. It looks very fragile to me.

Hi Mindy,

Can you please look at my photos too at #16?
I don't think it is normal to have that many dusts inside lens straight out of the box.
If it is possible I'd like to exchange.

I have Adobe Creative CC but it doesn't support Mavic RAW file. All I got is a big cross over a blue canvas.

Here is a jpg straight out of the camera, on the left side it looks blury.

Maybe updating cc might help, I'm not to sure if it supports dng but it should, you can also download PS demo for 1 month and this will do it.

I think the Camera RAW hasn't yet has the profile for Mavic. I can't adjust RAW image but it does open on PS.

Hi Mindy,

Did you have a look at the photo I uploaded @ #31?

Sometimes photo is sharp across frame, but sometimes it's soft on only one side.

Hi, that looks very similar to mine. I have done a full list of IMU calibration and resting gimbal etc that DJI chat told me to do and my pictures still look soft on the left. My camera looks to have dust inside the camera. I have spoken to DJI support and sent them pictures of a wall (its good way to show up detail if you picture a wall close up as you can see the detail of the bricks) which shows clearly the soft left hand side of the picture.  They have told me to send mine in for repair.

if you focus the camera to the left does that side get in focus? (then back soft when you centre focus again)

your pics from the drone are into sunlight. Do a brick wall test during good daylight and you will clearly be able to see where the lens is soft. Its easier to demonstrate to DJI as well.
