On the phone app it record as 1080p. How do I get it to record at 4k or does 4k video has to be extracted from the sim card? Is there other setting?

The FPV live view is 1080, 4k is a resolution that the camera records (not downlinks).
So if you record in 4k or any other resolution, the video is stored on the SD card.
Now you can transfer video from the SD card to your device through the Editor but it takes a while.http://www.dji.com/mavic/info#specs

Same question Ken, sorry newbie here. How do you set the camera to capture 4k? I may have missed it but the options in the app that I can only see is the video transmission either by 720 or 1080p. With regards to  capturing 4k mode I cant seem to find that option.

Hi Ken, still can find that 'Image Size' tab in Camera Settings. In the Camera/Photo Tab:

- Photo
- Image Ratio
- Image Format
- White Balance
- Style
- Color

You have to change the camera to video, tap above the red shutter button and change it to video start/stopbutton.
Then go back into camera settings and it wil give you all the video settings.

Great help about extracting the 4K video from the card, not the phone itself. However, my video transmission on my phone is only showing 720 resolution. I cant get 1080 on my phone footage and it affects the quality if I want to upload a video using mobil video editor. 1080 would be great. Can you help?

What phone are you using? Not all phones have a screen resolution that can support 1080P.

If you are flying far away it automatically switches to 720.

How far away? Im flying only 200-300 ft and it still NOT recording in 1080. Every video im recording it saves in the same resolution 720.

1080 would work much further away than that.
If you go into your HD settings, change the Image Transmission Settings to HD from Normal.

It's also worth noting that if you do change the image transmission rate to 1080p it wont let you record footage on the Mavic itself at 4k ... i think it limits recording to 2.7k .... perhaps lower ?

I only have IOS devices, looks like you have Android.
I am having someone with an Android test and they will reply to you.In IOS I can set the video downlink to 1080 and SD card record at 2.7k.
If I have it set to 4k then use HD mode, it says the resolution has been set to 1080.

It doesnt. As soon as I use the HD mode to 1080, the 4K automatically changes to 1080 for the SD as well.
I would be ok recording at 2.7K and 1080 on android phone.

It's possible that on Android when recording at 2.7k only 720 video downlink is available.
Let's wait until the other support tech tests on their Android, they only get 720 on 2.7 then that may be the limitation.

Android can only FPV stream 1080p only when recording in 1080p.
All higher resolutions (2.7K and 4K) will force the FPV stream to 720p.
I hope they fix this soon as i would love a bit more clarity when i'm doing live-feed-upskirts with my mavic.

I can confirm this is happening on my Android device as well......so it is not just you...

Im not even being able to FPV stream 1080p. No matter what setting I put it will only FPV stream 720 and its frustrating. Are you guys able to record 1080 on your phones?

If you want 4k, it has to be 720 fpv stream.. I was confused at first too, I couldn't find 4k in the options after setting 1080 in fpv stream.

I just checked and the app Im using is the DJI GO, not the new DJI GO4.  Awful reviews...

Hello? Were you able to speak to the development team? I want to record 2.7K on the SD card and 1080p on my phone but its not allowing me to. Do I have to download the DJI GO 4 app? It has horrible reviews about crashing...

1080p fpv stream + recording at 2.7k is available on android (S7 edge Android 6.0.1).
You need to use the GO 4 app.
Just select the 1080p FPV. It will then warn you that you will be now recording 1080p (its reverting back to defaults and resetting the resolution menu). Now go back into the recording options and select 2.7k (4K option has been removed).

A related question I hope you can answer is about the quality of the UHD footage. I shot on a Mavic Pro at UHD as an MP4 25fps PAL. It was over choppy water and the drone flew from 1 to 60m high. The footage has a bitrate of about 5 megabits/sec. The specs say 60mb/s is possible. How do you set it to record highest quality? The footage looks awful

Looks like you are looking at cached files on your ipad/iPhone/android. Don't use these as they are the streamed FPV files.
You need to get the files from SD files that are on Mavic under the small flap.

Guys, try to use 'Sync for DJI' app to download any file types from your drones. The app is free. I use it every time after landing
