Honestly this is getting to expensive!

I'd recommend these guys if you're in the UK.

If DJI would be clever, they would keep the Inspire 1 in development as the prosumer product. Add a nice camera once a while. Manufacturing is established, development costs are paid already, bird is still state of the art for the outdoor pilots.
And rename the Inspire 2 to the Inspire Pro series, it is certainly not something a prosumer would go for and the price will not get into reach anytime soon.
This way it would be a win-win situation. All owners of the I1 are happy, no pro user will buy a I1 if there is a high end line with distinct advantages and consumer users will upgrade to the I1. Customers happy, DJI maximizing the profit.

Or in other words, fire your current product management team. They should have seen that coming, people complaining about the missing backward compatibility.

Just my opinion on the reaction to the Inspire 2 launch.  I am an owner of two I1's, an X3 and an X5.  The latter was bought recently at a greatl price due to the forthcoming I2.  I could have waited to see what the launch would bring but I'm old enough to realise that it wasn't going to be a cheaper option!  Now it has launched and the complaints have started about backward compatibility.  Remember that this is all still new technology with designs being developed at great expense and the whole community learning together what works and what doesn't.  One of the big issues on the I1 forum relates to the camera/drone interface.  The interface has changed for I2.  Thus may be a completely cynical move or it may just be an attempt to resolve the interface problem.  The impact could be poor backward compatibility.  We are now being offered battery redundancy and longer flight times.  The design for this means we can't use our existing batteries which us a shame but not surprising, and poossibly a price worth paying for increased reliability and safety.  I look at it this way, I bought my I1's to do a job and it will still do that job even though the I2 has been launched.  Do I want an I2?....you betcha....and I'm already talking to a client to try to line up some work that'll help pay for one.  In the meantime I'll continue to get pleasure and good results out if my I1's.

Really a shame flight time didn't even get to 30 minutes (a second battery that is as worth as one), ...

the real advantage is the 4K/60 and 100 mbps - I said this already a year ago with 4K/30 you simply cannot make a smooth yaw and with 60 mbps you cannot make a quality video.

The side sensors of the P4P only work up to 7m but probably the Inspire 2 V2 will also have it.........

Well said, for those saying their Inspire's are now useless I just don't get it.
When you trade in your car for the same car but a newer year with more technology and features, does that make your old car useless?
The Inspire 1 is an incredible aircraft and works perfectly for most everyone.
The Inspire 2 in my mind is for the full blown pro who's clients demand the higher specs the camera offers.

Yeah Lino, it is so disappointing. Tons of loyal Inspire 1 owners feeling the same way but DJI Ken just keeps wanting to tell us we have no right to feel the way we do. Wonder if this is because there is not much response to pre-orders from Inspire 1 owners trying to figure out the best way to sell all their Inspire 1 stuff to get the new I2.  Well, Inspire 1 owners can buy up some good batteries for cheap pretty soon I guess and just land more often.

What I said was people were saying the Inspire 1 was now obsolete, which it's the same Inspire you've always used on your paying jobs. So since the Inspire 2 came out are all your clients refusing to give you work unless you have Inspire 2 capabilities?
Yes, the Inspire 2 is much better aircraft and camera wise, but it certainly doesn't make the Inspire 1 obsolete.

Many of the client base won't know (or care) that there is a better Inspire platform out there.  If they do then they won't be using Inspire pilots anyway - they'll be using outfits armed with DSLR carriers or better.  You won't be landing more often, you'll be landing with the same regularity you are now.  The Inspire 2 pilots will just be landing less often

Can someone tell me a bit more about the licensing model "ProRes / Cinema DNG"?
If I buy those licenses - are they related to the Aircraft (Inspire 2) or to me as a Pilot/User (f.e. in DJI Go App)?
I'm just thinking about some scenarios:

-Normally we have a backup for every system. But there is allways just one System running at a time - do I have to buy the license also twice then?
-Lets assume I crash the bird and buy a new one - do I also have to buy the License again then?
-Lets assume I'll buy a new "Osmo" for the X5s (If ever one will be relased) - do I have to buy another License then?

If it's like this: I'm really worring about spending 10k and more just for the same license on every DJI Product I like to use professional...

Ed, have a question on the new camera (X5S) does it have an SD card as well?
I like to take photos  ...

Yes it has micro SD as well, you would only need to buy the SSD is if you were going to shoot video in raw, and here a thought, raw 4K will chew up nearly half a terabyte (512 gig for forty minutes. and here in Australia the 480 gig SSD costs $1600.

My prediction is the 2 battery design is not only for redundancy but I think that once they sell enough of the existing batteries this design will allow bigger batteries with longer flight time to be used and so we will buy even more batteries. Just a thought.

Yea thats what im going to do , keep all stock

i buy a TK-102 GPS tracker , i use it  before with the phantom 3 pro ,
im wondering if i can use it with the Mavic , its not heavy  but i dont really want to attach it in my quad
but i dont want to lose it in long range flights , im always careful but i want to avoid the possibility

i think that RTH with obstacle avoidance is going to help a lot , but  i saw some videos of the phantom 4 and Mavic  and  that little radars dont detects cables  or little branches

i dont want to lose my quad , im wondering why DJI dont add an independent GPS  inside the quad with a little 1S battery inside , that could be a magnificent idea

DJI can provide that paid service , or include it with the DJI Care

The TK-102 will work just fine on the Mavic, just make sure to calibrate the compass after installation.
Since you are flying over pretty much a dense forest, just set the RTH well above the highest point and you will have no issues.
And who knows, maybe one day they have have an independent GPS with it's own power.

Thanks for your advice's ,

And yea and im sure that you guys are already working on that GPS feature ,  and phantom 5 is going to have it

may be it can be something like the marco polo or a GPS , but is going to be a nice feature

i dont know why you dont have DJI here , there a people like me that want to participate and love quads
but there are not events here ,

i only participate in 1 DJI event here , and i won the 3th place  in race
that was so good but since thatl there is nothing here , may be later i can find a job in DJI and make good things here

Seems it's got so confusing that even the poor guys on this forum don't know what goes with what anymore. It's all got very confusing, so much so that I can't buy an X5S because I don't know if it will operate on my system and I won't buy an X5R until I know whether the X5S will work.  Result NO SALE!!  Brilliant.

Amazing craft. Just wish I could buy it and use my X5 and X5R on it so I can enjoy the new improvements without having to buy another new camera that I don't currently need for what I do. I know I'm not alone here and I would hope dji releases an adapter for the X5 & X5R.

Also, there is mention in the promotional material of the Inspire 2's broadcast focused outputs but no SDI conection?? Will there be another adapter to enable this? Seems a strange thing to not have, given that Lightbridge 2 features it. Can someone answer this for me?

Exactly my frustration - if DJI had used the same gimbal attachment allowing the X5 to be used then I reckon a lot of folk would have shelled out for the I2 aircraft. As it is I am sticking with the I1. for DJI on this one.
