It's integrated in to the Phantom 4 Pro+ transmitter, I don't think it's something you can add. Might be wrong though..

And yet DJI's own marketing suggests otherwise.

"The CrystalSky monitor can be quickly connected to Inspire 2, the Inspire 1 series,
the Phantom 4 series, Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced, Matrice Series and
Mavic using the remote controller USB port, as well as Phantom 3 4K and Phantom 3 Standard over Wi-Fi."

This isn't the same as the integrated screen on the P4Pro.  This screen will have more brightness, longer battery, SD Card slots (dual), HDMI out port, and good for extreme temperatures, and comes in two sizes.  This thing will not be cheap.  Probably close to the price of the Mavic itself.

Suggests that the USB port may be used in the future to output video ... i'm hoping that they will come out with a USB to HDMI adapter so we can use fatshark goggles etc with it ... i'd be very happy if this was the case

If that price is correct, I will be sticking with my IPad Mini.  I would want the larger version which is presumably even more than 599 Euros (850 $Cdn).

Only problem is that it's 17mm thick, so it won't actually fit in the Mavic remote's mobile device holder.

It is not designed for the Mavic screen holder. It will communicate via the other USB connector and it will need a separate holder or stand for it. You should all take a few moments to read the spec before making so many assumptions.
As for the price, most 5-7" high nit pro recording devices sell for around $1500 USD, Black Magic and Atomos just to name a few.
If the pricing is under $1000 I would consider it reasonable providing it can also take other input sources.
Lets see when they actually bring it on the market.

The specs for this display are 4 times brighter than iPad Air 2.  I expect the 7.85" display to be north of $1K.  Although this is compatible with Mavic, I don't think it will be cost effective.  My biggest concern is not being able to use third-party apps.  This may be DJI's way to get into the field monitor market... perfect for the Ronin, too.

It's a SHAME that DJI is not telling the Release Date ... this a shocking and disrespectful attitude towards us who Trusted them in buying their Product !!!

Look I 3 Days ago bought the DJI Phantom 4 Pro instead of the Pro+ as I've been told by the Sales representative of DJI that it would be better to buy the Pro instead of Pro+ as DJI is releasing soon the " CrystalSky " Monitor which will be brighter , 2000 nits and the Monitor will have a bigger Screen than the actual 5.5" of the Pro+ and will be available for our actual Phantom ,Mavic , Inspire , etc...

Please , DJI give us the Release Date ...

I agree. Seems like false advertising. Just like the DJI Goggles. They lure you in with all of these accessories that bring new possibilities yet they don't really sell them in a reasonable amount of time.

Agree, they need to release these concepts as just that... an idea they may or may not run with. Like a news letter article or sumn. Instead they make an add like its in production already

Just like Apple with EarPods, Apple Watch just to name 2 , it's a tech thing, not false advertising it's just what tech companies do, if we didn't know about this stuff , we'd be looking to know. It will arrive we just don't know when...

As far as I know Apple always gives an availability date when they announce a new product, but they have been late on their release date.  I think that's better than not giving any date at all.  Apple always come through with the products they announce.

In fairness dji have always come through with their products, they gave a release date for Mavic couldn't meet it, and as you know it was a disaster, so maybe giving dates will not work as you think. When iPad 2 was announced in my country it was supposed to be available within three months, 14 months later it was available, and a similar situation with there EarPods.

I myself think this is a marketing ploy to keep people hanging on, and while people are annoyed waiting as soon as the product arrives all seems to be forgotten.

It's difficult if we are the sort of people who latch on to brands and continually forgive the way we are treated as long as we get our fix.. good luck

Wow. 14 months wait for the iPad Air 2? I had no idea. I guess even Apple struggles to estimate the demand and have a production team ready to meet that demand.

I have been "following" DJI's drones for about 2 years, but the Mavic is the first I've owned. I guess I would appreciate knowing a firm date as to when the first lucky people will get their hands on a new product. And, a time frame for when the rest of orders should be fulfilled.  Must be too much to ask for I guess.  Seems like DJI could be more forthcoming.  "We will released x,xxx DJI Goggles to the first customers on March 3, 2017 and can fulfill xx,xxx over the next 3 month after that."  And have a real system for delivering 1st come first serve to no matter who you are and what country you live in for first batch pre-orders.  They would probably have to specify the first batch must be ordered direct from the customer and direct from DJI in order to properly fulfill first come first serve orders.  Then after the first batch start releasing to 3rd party venders. I'm just babbling here I guess, but makes sense to me.

Yes your absolutely right, no customer needs this cloak and dagger stuff, so yes cmon dji and try giving an approximate release date at least...
