I have the same issue and already sent in after chat with your tech support.
Mindy, technically, it just stops charging at any time. I noticed this when charging leds are off. I unplug charger, check battery level and only 3 leds light up. I pluged back and it shows charging but all leds light off after few minutes even though while charging, 4 leds are running.
I have to unplug and replug several times but all I can get is 4th led blinking when checking battery level.
I tried discharge RC battery by leaving it on until one led left and RC beeping. Pluged back in, charged half way and off.
I bought mine from Best Buy USA mid August this year.
I posted this issue in another thread and there is another user has the same problem and he also bought about the same time.

Hello, I have the same problem, my remote does not recharge the battery full, the last white light is off and it says that it is 60% of its battery capacity, as I can solve this problem ??, before it did not happen.

It was charged normal, when auto shutoff charging the display on device only 76%.
I have try to disconnect and re-connect the charger, and start re-charge the battery only several minute and then shutoff again. However the indication on device can't reach 100%.

I sent mine to determine fixed,Sophia on support was very good,they pick up the drone with in 2 days,went to Melbourne, they had it 5 days then said they will replace rc battery for free,said will take 5 days to do that &test,I blew up big co's I wanted it back quickly & it should not take 5 days to do the work,they sent it back 3 days later,but didn't look at a 2nd issue I had been having with radio channel quilt, but I'm happy with things thay did to fix the issue I  had,BUT I SAY I PAYED BIG $$$ TO DJI FOR THERE PRODUCT,I USED IT A FEW TIMES THEN SPENT WEEKS TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT,SO MANY OF US GET BIG ISSUES WHEN WE SHOULDN'T, TO MANY THINGS DON'T WORK  WITH DJI EXPENSIVE PHANTOM-4,

What is your ticket#, did you explain to them that it also had a disconnect problem as well as the battery?
And what device are you using?
If it's not one of the DJI recommended devices, it may not have enough processing power to fully run the app.
Did you close out all other programs?

That's why I was asking how long it lasts for? If the RC will not last for many flights enough for a entire day then it may be an issue.
If the RC is old and heavily used then the battery may have lost some capacity.
If it's fairly new and doesn't fully charge then send it back.
I would leave the RC powered on and let the battery die, then recharge and see if then lets you fully charge.

I have the same issue, and purchased my P4 less than 2 weeks ago.  Mine charges to 83-85%, then goes no higher.  After one short flight, I am down to 3 dots on the transmitter.  I have started a ticket with DJI as well.  Hopefully they will exchange my transmitter rather than have me send it in for repair.

They will not send you another TX until yours is evaluated.
I don't know if they'll exchange or repair when yours gets there.

Ok, so you are saying that after you've charged the RC and had a 14 minute flight it went down to 50% ?

I don't think firmware versions would make a difference on the charging of the battery.

I have conducted to update firmware to the RC but not help the condition.
Refer to DJI support suggest, I try to contact to our supplier, they confirmed that the RC was not covered warranty, and warranty only for the aircraft excl intellegent battery.
The RC have to be sent out from Indonesia and the cost will be informed after diagnose done.
So, repair or replace a part of RC will be some $$$.
